Have you heard?? We've got paws on the ground! That's right, gray wolves have been reintroduced to Colorado.

Transcript: Are you ready for some good news? Actually the best news? We. Have. Wolves! Three years ago Coloradans voted to bring the gray wolf back to the Southern Rockies, which could eventually reconnect wolves all the way from Mexico to the Arctic. Despite last-minute legal attempts to sabotage this effort, Defenders of Wildlife successfully won the day in court, paving the way for paws on the ground as the first five gray wolves were reintroduced to Colorado on Monday. The wolf reintroduction plan is widely supported by Coloradans and we applaud the inclusive decision-making process that is helping make the restoration of this keystone species a reality.

This is how a person can say I'm a moron without saying it.

51-49 is not what I would call widely supported.

So obtuse. Did we not learn from states like Idaho and Montana. Speak to ranchers and see how this will hinder the farming communities.

I’m a strong believer in preservation of our wildlife and nature in general but this really is a terrible idea. It goes against what the professionals at CPW have said and 3 other wildlife agencies in states who’ve done this reintroduction. Colorado also didn’t hold study to release the wolves on public land so instead they released them on private state land but you don’t hear about it from any news outlets here because whatever Polis wants he gets. Please people open your eyes and look up north look at Idaho, Montana, Wyoming hell look at Oregon and Washington both used to be great hunting states but now the population is on a constant decline. In Idaho and Wyoming wolves were supposed to be the saving grace of CWD yet since wolves have been introduced CWD is at an all time high. WE NEED TO PUSH WOLF HUNTING. Wolves are beautiful creatures and have just as much of a right to be here as anyone else but they can’t thrive alongside our wildlife unless we manage them heavily and government hunters isn’t the solution. If we manage them while they’re still small and keep those numbers below 200~300 and also cut back on the tags for other animals for a couple years we might be able to save this. We can’t have wolves here because even though they once were, at the time of pre westward expansion wildlife numbers were in the tens of millions and we have 1800’s hunting styles to blame for why we don’t have as many but we’re finally bringing back our numbers of moose and bison some of the most effected and yet we still are increasing the predators. Conservation isn’t all sunshine and rainbows the fact that Denver swayed this whole entire ballot is unbelievable as this doesn’t even affect their region of the state. If you see your local rancher give him a hug.

Yay! Ranchers will still kill them and say "Oops! Silly me, I didn't see that radio collar and ear tag through my high powered scope! I would NEVER go against the voter's will!"

I'm sad to be a Coloradoan. They should have released them in the counties that voted the highest percentage. Many parts of the state are struggling to maintain the elk herd. I have family members who use to hunt in Wyoming, and anywhere there are wolves, the elk are gone. A lot of towns in Colorado survive off the economic influx that hunters bring in the fall. Not to mention that the tax payers are now liable for any livestock that the wolves kill. I talked to a rancher from Idaho, he lost 145 cows. In one night.
