fine, $3000 for the fishfinder wasn't enough. I'll buy the $250 vision map.

Hello..
Till what depth could you still see the structure of the sea botom with outstanding good image when using the relieve shading ?

We need to talk, my system is new and I need it to look like you have executed, way to go that looks great, please suggest how I improve my panoptix and 1223, I’m thinking the difference may be in my transducer options that came with my gps1223xsv

I have the vision card. I downloaded my area on the active captain app. Then sinked it to my garmin 943xsv and still don't have my relief shading. I even have the card in the 1st SD slot and active captain in my second slot. I'm so disappointed on how difficult this is compared to my simrad.

I have 2 of these units on my new bay boat and added the Bluecharts G3 Vision card, relief shading will not show up. Also just updated the units through Active Captain, still no relief shading. Does anyone know of settings I may be missing?

Tks! How do change the map to face “north up” vs “heading up”? I tried for hours and could not find it.

Also. If you want to get the Panoptix/live vu transducer can you use it with the 1243 unit and the other transducer that has the regular chirp/side/downvu? I read this unit only has one transducer port? Thanks.

Got a questions. I'm looking at the Garmin GPSMAP 1243xsv Touch-Screen Fish Finder/Chartplotter and the Garmin GPSMAP 1242xsv GPS Chartplotter/Sonar Combo without Transducer. Which one you recommend. I'm just using it for livescope but the fine details is a must for me and I don't mind spending a little extra. Please help. Thank you

I live in the same area. Getting the Same Garmin. Is that the d941 card purchased separately?

Thoughts on the best transducer for the 1243xsv? Fishing marine coastal. 250’ or less. A lot of bottom, wreck and reef fishing too. Gt52, 54, 56? I don’t want to overkill if I don’t need it. Thanks!

I ordered a new boat and ordered it this the 1243xsv. The boat has a through hull transducer and I bought the GT56 so I can use the side view and the down view. Can they both be incorporated into the one unit and use them individually when needed?

Does the 1243xsv take a regular SD card or does it only take a micro SD?

disappointing>> how often do they update the maps? I just bought garmin g3 ultra west lakes>>>
On my local Texas man made reservoir lake, Lake Lewisville, the chart showed an area as 8 - 10 ft when the reality is that it is between 2 and 3 feet. Not just a small spot but likely the better part of an acre! I am glad the lake level was not any lower or I may have had a serious impact. Yes I did use the lake level feature and the lake today is down less than 2 feet but I entered 2 feet so it should have been a bit higher than the map indicated BUT 6 feet off??? Another issue is the high definition relief is almost featureless on a man made lake and when you zoom in it is actually pixelated with almost no real detail. It is better than the included g3 map but not by much. Very little detail on features an/or even possible hazards. Don't expect to see a pile of downed trees or any features around the size of even a very big tree. Basic features like drop offs and contours do display as long as you are zoomed pretty far out but with the scale at anything 100 ft map measure or less, I have not seen anything I can say would be helpful but maybe as I use it I will find some beneficial areas but today mid lake it was pretty useless and showed absolutely no structure. Even a huge small rise in 43 ft which goes to 16 ft in a sharp cone is barely even indicated. Basically if you are spending $200 for the upgrade you can expect dynamic lake levels and only slightly more detail. Once again finding an area where the map was dangerously off was shocking. I think I may post a video myself and show what you really are getting on a lake.

Great info. I have a question. I’m trying to pick a new setup. I want two screens. Radar and a new trolling motor if I can swing it. I seen a deal on the 1242 xsv plus. Maybe run that with a 943xsv and let the 943 take the lead. Gt56 transducer. Mostly 110 feet and under with an occasional run out to 200 feet. Would just like your thoughts. Thanks.

Do you think the shaded relief charts are equal too or close to as accurate as the cmor mapping?
