1/4 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup corn starch
4 tsp sodium bicarbonate

Arrowroot powder is actually a fantastic substitute for sodium bicarbonate, also. Sodium bicarbonate (also known as baking soda) has a much higher PH level compared to your skin, whereas arrowroot powder is much closer to your skin's PH, making you less likely to break out :)

I became an herbalist some years back taking classes on line. I make all my own medicine, soaps, salves, teas, shampoos, laundry soap and lip balm. It is great you are doing this.

In August I began using one cotton ball of apple cider vinegar and it works amazingly. Haven’t needed to wear deodorant since then. I reapply typically after each shower and it has changed my life!

I've been using baking soda + coconut oil for months now. No extra ingredients, and it works amazing! Much better than any store bought ever did. It works so well and never stinks like after regular deodorant. Highly recommend. No third ingredient needed for me at least. Might be different for each individual, idk.

A few weeks ago, I made an easy toothpaste with coconut oil, baking soda and a small amount of salt. For flavor I used vanilla, cinnamon and clove essential oils.

Three ingredients, so simple. Your recipe sounds wonderful, Kalle. But the conversion to the American system doesn't quite translate. Why? Because most of our measurement units are based on 4, instead of in decimals. So when it comes to cooking (or making beauty products), we Americans think fractionally, rather than decimally. A cup is 8 ounces, but 2/10 of a cup of corn starch or 08/100 cup of baking soda is not quite in our vocabulary.

I think I can help you with the conversion.

Approximately:
almost 1/4 cup corn or potato starch or arrowroot
4 teaspoons baking soda (also known as bicarbonate of soda)
almost 1/4 cup coconut oil.

How I converted the ingredients: it's easier for me to think of 50 mL rather than 0.5dL because in Germany, my mother's homeland, they tend to use mL in their cookbooks, instead of dL. It's actually 60mL that =1/4 cup in the American system of measurements, so maybe we could say 1/4 cup, less 2 teaspoons for the cornstarch and the coconut oil? As for the baking soda, 5 mL = 1 teaspoon.

Thanks for sharing your recipe, Kalle. I look forward to trying it. :-)

If you already have some coconut oil at home here is an other 3-ingredient recipe: Heat the coconut oil then mix it with beeswax and add a little lanolin. Experiment with the ratios (you need it to become spreadable when it cools down) and you will get a great shoewax/leather conditioner.

Itchy is more likely to come from the baking soda (many people develop skin problems from the stuff when used on the skin), the corn starch is also used as babypowder alternative. I use just cornstarch and coconutoil (1 tsp each) + 2-3 drops good essential oil if you want a scent. Mash the first to together with a fork to a paste and then add the essential oil. No preservatives, so make a new batch every month.

I am so happy to have been recommended your channel by the algorithm. I very much agree with your lifestyle. No plastic, no harmful toxins. I thought I was alone with my esoterics. Thank you !

The scenes that went along with line “I’m not some kind of fairy” made me laugh so much 🤣

I made your recipe today, worked hard today and no stink! Woo hoo! I’ve been a natural deodorant consumer for 25 years (getting so expensive), but this is my first DIY DEO! I’m so excited it seems to work well! The next week will be the real test. I was just so excited I had to let you know. I really love yours and Christine’s channels! Blessings & Happy New Year 🎉🎉🎉

Love this! You're 100% right that we have to pay attention to what we're putting in and on our bodies. Store bought deodorant is so bad for you. We recently made deodorant but literally melted coconut oil and added lemongrass essential oil then froze it in a silicone mold. Put a wrapping around it and just apply the block directly to armpits. Absolutely love it. We also made all natural soaps too on our channel which was fun to do for the first time. Keep spreading the information and helping others 😊

TLDR: 03:20
1) Coconut Oil
2) Bicarbonate (is this same as baking soda?)
3) Corn or Potato Starch
4) Fragrant Oils (optional)

I think the most important info that should have been here is why or how it works.
I presume the coconut oil is the crucial ingredient due to its antibacterial properties, but I can imagine it's going to be slimy and unpleasant under there...

5 min after watching this, I was down in the kitchen making the recipe. I’ve heard bad things about deodorants (that you buy from the store) but never thought of making my own. Excited to see how it works on me. Tack för tips!! ⭐️

Love making my own things like deodorant, soaps, lip balm, beard oil, candles and so much more. I use beeswax, coconut oil, Shea butter, arrowroot, Bentonite Clay and corn starch and pour it in a deodorant tube, I absolutely love it.

Not even past the intro yet and I’ve just subscribed! Perfect. Although, collecting pine cones barefoot in the forest does sounds nice too 😆 even though you ain’t that.
Love your whole vibe! Can’t wait to hear more

Thank you for sharing this, Kalle! So good to see you both thriving and discussing how everything, even the fabric next to our skin, affects our health. I've been using a version of this for years and finally don't stink. :)

4T baking soda
4T arrowroot
6T coconut oil
15 drops of Essential oil x 2 (eucaluptus or rosemary and orange are wonderful, as is lemongrass)

p.s. Just signed up! Thanks, Kalle! I've never heard of this service before and looks incredible!!!

I have been making this using arrowroot plus essential oils for years. I pack it into a couple of re-used stick deodorant containers and put them into the refrigerator for about an hour. Works beautifully! Only thing is, it will melt if I try to travel with it in hot weather. Though I haven’t tried it yet, I think some beeswax may be added to help with the melting factor.
