I rode my XL yesterday up and down the coastline at Blackpool to Fleetwood and back. Altogether 50 km or around 30 miles. Non-stop, average speed around mid range. It was around 16 degrees C, total weight fully kitted about 100 kg. At the end there was 56% charge left. Now we all know that this doesn’t equate charge for another 50 km but I am pretty confident that I would be able to eek out another 20 km at least. In summer probably 80 km in total which is all I ever need. My legs were quite sore at that stage already. As to the ride: very pleasant indeed! I installed the larger foot boards and it was a lot more comfortable than with the smaller stock ones. No foot cramp (which I used to get on long rides with the small boards of my KS16S) and I felt that overall control was better. Although the wheel at first felt a bit unwieldy, very soon I got to grips with it and handling is almost as responsive as with the 16S. The best thing is that it copes much better with obstacles, pot holes and uneven terrain than the 16 inch wheels I was used to. This wheel inspires confidence. The extra 2 inches in height are great, too. As Ian mentioned the improvements are subtle but effective and well thought out. Thus far I am very happy with it. Just hope that the new app will be worth the wait. Currently after connecting the app refers to my wheel as ‘illegal equipment’. When you sign in it says ‘lovely notice’. Hopefully they’ll find someone who speaks English at Kingsong before they present us with the new app.

Firmware is different to 18L as wheel speed restrictions start at a much lower percentage due to larger battery

Some things to say to the differences:
Differences of trolley is not only other Colour: Stronger and new insides, stronger locks, more sturdy…..to handle higher weight
Also the LED is stronger/brighter on the XL(this differences are only to early 18L versions, new 18L all have all this Progress, too, LED, Trolley, mudguard etc)

For the Login Problems: Dont know when you recorded this, but yeah, unfortunatly the Server was down for a few days (DarknessBot can then help out with Speed settings)
Voltage drop on such temperatures is very extrem ….Pretty Cold there in England :-)

I read you have a specialized helmet, did you have them add the mesh in the mouth and sides or was that something that they normally do?

have they fixed the battery overheating and wheels locking up problem in the new version? the kx18l had an issue where it'd lock up when not riding and moving around with the handle.

Hello !! Thanks for all your datails about Unicycles. I decided to but the KS 18XL. You have more knowledge than me. I just get my KS 18XL last week and after 4 days of use it the unicycle it turn off by it self. Was 53 % left before ( like 5 green battery light) I press the power button and nothing happen. I plug in the power charger and after 5 hours charging try again and nothing. What can be the problem? Thanks in advance!!!

Good review Ian, I like your EUC tests which are practical real life reports not some controlled ride in unrealistic circumstances. And it is good that you use "map my ride" to measure distance as opposed to the hopelessly optimistic King Song app.

the % limiting aint exclusive to wheeles its the same for all P.E.V my skateboard is the same 100%-50% 20 miles 50%-30% 5 miles then the power limiting comes in (LIPOs)

Great review. I´d like one of those (as well). Is the Msuper more silent than these KS18 models? How is the failure rate between KS and Gotway. The same?
