Trozenas Bridge
Γεφύρι της Τρόζενας

The bridge is located in the Trozena area of the Limassol district and was built to connect the village with the wider western area of Diarizos river. A tributary of Diarizos flows under the bridge, while the area consists of dense vegetation of alder, plane trees and tremithus.

For travelers who are afraid of heights, crossing the bridge may seem dangerous. Nevertheless, its use is particularly safe, it is just important that only one vehicle passes each time, whose total weight does not exceed 8 tons.

The bridge was built during the British occupation period. It is a Bailey Bridge, a portable, pre-fabricated, truss bridge. The Bailey bridges were developed in 1940–1941 by the British for military use during the Second World War and saw extensive use by British, Canadian and American military engineering units. A Bailey bridge has the advantages of requiring no special tools or heavy equipment to assemble. Bailey bridges continue to be used extensively in civil engineering construction projects and to provide temporary crossings for pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
