If this song was a place, I would live there forever.

This is incredible. It's amazing to see how far you've grown since I first started watching you on Youtube. You're a huge motivation for me as a composer, and I wanted to find some way, somehow, to thank you. I don't know why, but I just do. You inspire me. You inspire everyone around you. And that is a superpower that no one can take for granted.

How many artists have featured their mum in a song? JC you are so pure.

Don't get me wrong, Jacob's compositional skill and ideas are incredible and the music in this song makes me tear up. But the final nail in the coffin that makes me bawl my eyes out is the lyrics. I don't think he gets enough credit as a poet, because the lyrics in this song are so real that it's heart-breaking. Beautiful beautiful beautiful song.

Once you needed somebody
To hold you close to your body
But I'd already gone

Once you listened for someone
A voice to soothe your aching heart
And I told you goodbye

Time passes us by
It seems like our day is gone
But I know, in my heart, I’ll always care for you
And you'll care for me
And I will always remember the world we shared
The road may be long, long, long, long
But someday I'll hold you close
Once more

Time passes us by
The sun in your eyes is gone
But I know, in my heart, I’ll always shine for you
But I know I will always remember the world we shared
The road may be long, long, long, long, long, long, long
But someday I'll hold you close
Once more

I'll hold you, hold you once more, hold you once more
Gonna hold you, I'm gonna hold you, hold you
Hold you once again

The road may be long, the road may be long, long, long
Long, long, long
I'm gonna hold you

Okay, so just had to say: several musicians I’ve talked to get depressed hearing your music because of the ridiculous amount of skill you’ve developped, but I still don’t get it. It’s so full of life! I can’t help but be inspired to practice and write more than ever!!

This song hits different when you have a loved one pass away. My cat just passed away today and this song is true catharsis. Goodbye Gigi. One day I’ll hold you again. (2008 - December 19 2022) ❤

What really excites me is the fact that Jacob Collier's best stuff is yet to come

I can hear Sinatra here; unbelievably devastating and beautiful composition.

I love this album, and I’m so lucky this is being made in my lifetime. It’s so ahead of our time and understanding. For everyone other than June, of course.

This song is for Jacob and music adorers, as well as critics who claim he is a soulless technician alike (yep, they're out there).

Spellbinding.

One must attempt to glimpse at the genius and fearless exploration this man shares. Someone expressed that his music has no melodic value... using Quincy Jones' 600 tracks for Michael Jackson's video, for instance. The human brain needs to identify, categorize and make sense of what we hear; those are our limits. Music has no boundaries. The integration of orchestral bliss, crooning jazz changes, the ridiculously challenging 7/8 over 5/8 or 21/2 rhythms... the 1/4 tone pitch modulations. It may be too much for one's limited theoretical knowledge or current ability to absorb, and that's understandable. To feel bombarded is where you're at, and that's okay, too. Listen and then listen again. Then listen intently, then listen to enjoy. Listen to appreciate. Listen to hear. Listen to find. Listen with a larger aural perspective. Listen with no judgment. Listen.

Ugly cried to this one; I'm often touched by music, but this track was really something else. It's rare for me to be so moved. You've created something inexpressably beautiful here, Jacob.

This song is a f**king masterpiece. Good god. It’s a damn shame it doesn’t have millions of views…

This is ridiculously beautiful. This is one of the only songs to ever actually make me cry. The harmonies are so dense and rich. You know when to use just the right amount of spice in your chords to give it enough edge so that the resolution is stronger. Like holy smokes, the changes in this are just gorgeous. You are such an inspiration to me. Thank you for this truly beautiful piece of music.

So not what I was expecting. This was recommended by a friend and as I typed in DJ, EDM was going on in my head. What a pleasant surprise to my ears.

To me Jacob is outstanding not only because complexity (but I got absolute hearing, so maybe it helps a bit), but the energy he gives. A lot of music nowadays, including music I really love - is still whining. I used to love some indie/electronic male singers, they are very talented, but the energy they spread is very depressing. Someone wrote somewhere that Jacob is "too light" that it's not relatable, and needs a good heart break. IMO the world is already full of that kind of music, pease listen to almost anything else. There's a lot of pity music, there's a lot of bitter music. There is a lot of introspective and atmospheric music - which embraces the feeling of loneliness, but coloring it as something beautiful, makes you into the "lonely observer" mood, and that is a great music. But I've been listening to it for too much, and it sucked life out of me. Jacob's music brings life back. Hope it won't stop.
