Weather Report was founded in 1970 by musicians who had met whilst playing with Miles Davis. This Montreux Festival show from 1976 follows on from the release of their album "Black Market" but features the line-up that would release their most famous and successful album "Heavy Weather" in 1977. Previously only available as a bootleg of a TV broadcast, this new DVD release is fully authorized and has been restored to its full length.

The 70s look and sound so good. Glad I'm from 1970 and remember all this. Nice it's all here to see.

I met the 1983 line up outside what was Hammersmith Odeon, which included Omar Hakim and Victor Bailey. They were all really nice. Still got all of their autographs. Met Jaco too the same year, again Hammersmith Odeon on word of mouth tour, when he played with Mike Stern. Jaco wasn't very pleasant but he did sign an autograph for me. He got in a big argument with Mike Stern on stage and outside the gig. Think they were both using at the time. R.I.P to JZ, WS, VB, and JP. All of them were Incredible musicians, the best of the best.

I am only getting into jazz fusion lately through YouTube videos of Weather Report and Jaco videos. I never knew what I was missing!

Joe and Jaco were just learning each other’s thoughts at this time, very soon after Jaco joined the band. It was a happy time for Weather Report. I remember great feelings surrounding a show. Joe loved to throw the hell out of a frisbee to calm the nerves and we had some epic afternoon games. They were profoundly different personalities with little in common besides the music, but oh — what music. Very happy memories.

Was fortunate to have seen Weather Report three times. Once with Alphonso Johnson, twice with Jaco Pastorius. Always amazing...RIP Josef and Jaco.

A band I did see live in 1983, so good. At the time we were not aware of Jaco's story.

I realise this is an eleven year old post, but what happened to the rest of the recording. It cuts off just when it gets good. Band were really on form at this concert. Thanks for the upload anyway.
