69 Ford F100 CV Swap/Explorer 3:73 Barn Find to Finish

See me at @f100inc on Instagram... Build summary, we purchased this truck off a farm near Macon, Ga. from the original owner's family. Truck was purchased new by a lady back in 69. 302 with a 3speed manual. We sold the truck to another lady who wanted to drive this and so we moved the fuel tank out of the cab, swapped the manual three-on-the-tree for a C4 automatic, did a Crown Vic front end/Explorer rear swap which gave her the desired four wheel disc brakes and power steering. We widened the rear cop wheels to 9.5" so this truck has no wheel spacers. Color is the best color for an F100, Lunar Green

Sure do love me a short bed. And I am not a fan of "patina", because I'm sick of the "rust bucket" look, but as long as you're gonna have it, this is the exact proper amount. The cop wheels are a nice touch, too.

Pretty truck. I personally prefer the original white wheels better, but it doesn't matter what at one else thinks, as long as you like it. That's what I always say. Have fun with it!

Great find, best of luck with the truck. It’s truly a great find for anyone.. just tearing off the entire front end is one super way to repai/fix any major problems. The new wheels look killer!

Such a beautiful truck!! I have a question though. I heard the CV front end is 2” wider than the original set up. Is this true? I’m SO glad to see someone else loving the CV rims! I love the steel with chrome center caps.

I drove a 72 everyday for 14 years and now cruise in a Vic. There’s no way I’d do this swap. No offense meant. But the trucks better off left a truck. The Vic’s better left as a Vic. But an engine and trans swap is a different matter! 4.6 or a 5.4 with a 4r70 and an 8.8 is the way to go. Economical with mpgs. The folks that say the engines don’t make power just don’t know how to….

Sickening to see a truck like the F100 ruined and it's resale and Collective values destroyed for literally no reason. there is no gain whatsoever by implementing a different type of suspension.
But instead it creates a negative loss in every aspect of the vehicles original design.. .
