My favorite song ever since I was a kid and my dad was in the army. Thank you for doing this. I’m still a beginner and can strum but I’m going to learn how to pick it because this song is special to me.

This song means the world to me. I wasn’t in the military but I was a police officer. I had just buried two police officer friends when this song came out. In fact one of them just got back from a tour but he died state side on duty as a cop when he was hit by a drunk driver. Yes he was a motorcycle cop. The next day we had another motorcycle officer and buddy killed on duty. So while this is about dying overseas it still hits home for police officers. Two years ago my bestfriend and partner took his life. All in all I’ve buried 7 police officer buddies. It’s been tough but I’ll keep trying.

You do a great version but for the new to finger picking let alone hybrid picking a better view of what your right hand is doing and a less than straight on frontal would be of great benefit to those trying to mimic your style (imitation is the greatest complement). Thanks
