Fees for luggage cost more than shipping your stuff UPS to your destination. It's more likely to arrive undamaged and on time.

I'm always infuriated when flights say they anticipate running out of overhead space and are looking for volunteers to check their baggage "for free." The gall of implying checking your baggage at the gate for free is in any way a benefit! That's not a incentive, you are doing nothing to fix the problem!

Paying for seats is old news. Last time I was at the airport, they wanted to charge $40 for speaking to the airline agent. Only the digital check-in is free.

if you don't pick a seat, they just give one to you when you check-in. you just have to pay if you want to sit in a specific seat.
