Looking to create some flash/off-camera flash content in 2022. What questions do you have? What do you want to learn/see?

Godox V1 is the best choice simply being the modelling light. MAGmod can still fit on the V1 Flash and doesnt affect the magnet alignments whatsoever..

The v860iii has the modeling light shooting straight on, because it’s better for low light events to assist the camera in attaining focus quickly, giving the photographer the ability to still bounce the light. The v1 can’t do that unless you point the flash directly at the subject.
That’s why the 860iii is the perfect low light event flash!!!

6:28 - just wanna say this sold it for me. Despite me being a Sony user your video was the only one that I’ve seen so far to actually show how the shape of the beam is different on a blank surface rather than always on a person / subject. I saw that Magmod2 is out for V1 users at the same price - initially like your video at the time of it posted, the fact that magmod didn’t have accessories for V1 made me lean to the 680iii.
Thank you for your awesome comparison video, I really liked it and helped me a lot 🥰

Excellent comparisons. Thank you for sharing your real world experience and samples with the flashes. Good to hear from a working professional and not just someone pointing out different specs.

The only review that covers also the form of the light bulb as well as the modifier differences. Which are the most important differences in my opinion. Well made!

Your tip about the magmod modifiers sold me on the V1 vs the 860iii. I hate buying products then needing to buy accessories just as expensive. Currently rocking the Godox TT350 and AD200 but looking for a better on camera flash

Hey Reggie, nice comparison video!
Godox also sells the S-R1 adapter that allows you to use the AK-R1 accessories on a flathead speedlights like the v860ii(i)

Reggie: Very comprehensive and all-inclusive review and comparison. I don't use Fuji, I'm a Nikon shooter, but I believe much of your info is agnostic enough that other brand users will gain valuable information.

Thanks for all of the detailed info and real-world impact of the differences! I'm looking to get my first on-camera flash, and this was super helpful. Cheers!

Here in Sweden you can buy V860II for 159 $ and V860III for 274 $, almost half the price. I have had the V860II for 3 years, and I have never had any problems, neither with it getting overheated or the battery running out or the hotshoe breaking. So so far it is not worth an upgrade.

Thanks for the statement about the functionallity of the round head and modifiers. Been trying to decide and that helps me go for the 860iii

I've been with the tt350f and I want to upgrade to either the V1 or 860III. Thanks for the comparison and it was very helpful. I'll probably go with the 860II.

It's much better that the "modeling lamp" is facing forward. This way if your mirrorless camera can't focus due to super dark lighting conditions you can turn that on so the camera can lock focus. If you're bouncing the flash and the light was on the head then it wouldn't work as a good focus assist beam.

Great insight, thanks for the info! I always assumed the v1 is 'better' she produces a nicer quality of light with it's round head.
But since I'm mostly bouncing light at the minute it really does not matter...

Cheers!
