I work in the food industry in the UK, generally the rules for declaring ingredients are pretty similar but the American philosophy for food ingredients is more along the lines of "you can use it until someone proves it isnt safe", whereas in the UK it is more like "you cant use it until someone has proved it is safe"

The uk doesn't have a dairy queen but a milkman in a dress would be a dairyqueen in the UK

The reason in the UK the cup lids are raised is so the drink does not spill when pushing a straw through the lid. Personal experience. Whoever redesigned the new lids, well done.

I'm from the UK and we don't just call cookies biscuits, a cookie is a type of biscuit, but we still say cookie, when its a cookie, but when its a bourbon biscuit or a custard cream, or pretty much anything else, biscuit is how we would refer to them most of the time

In the US it is very important that the product looks 'appetizing' which means adding fake & unhealthy food colouring (caramel color). Some US additives are well known in the branch of giving an extra hungry-feeling in your stomach such as extra sugars (high-fructose corn syrup). And for taste they use in the US all kinds of processed (hydrogenetic) oils, what means that the potato which is mentioned in the fries can be potato powder + fillers = calciumchloride (= chemical powder not food!). How do I know that? 1. In the Netherlands there is a regular check of all kinds of foods. 2.I am a chemical engineer 3. I like to cook and I check what ingredients are in the food.

''When the ice cream machines are working.'' Yes - that's something that's common in both countries!

The beef flavour is because McDonalds use to fry their fries in Beef Tallow, but following an unfounded scary against animal fats, switched to vegetable oils. This does have the benefit that now the fries are vegetarian. When it comes to accurate ingredients list, the UK is definitely better than the US, the UK does a lot more testing and is more restrictive on additives than the US is.

in the UK we have more rules and restrictions about permitted chemical additives in our foods which is why our ingredient lists are shorter.

The UK is far stricter on ingredients. If I go to a US Sweet shop, they have a sticker over the top of the US ingredients with all the extra stuff that they don't have to say in the US. Such as genetically modified stuff.

We DO have donut sticks in the UK - only not at McD's. Go to practically any supermarket over here and you'll usually find something called 'yum yums'.

Due to the randomness of my career I met a UK potato farmer who said that McDonald's UK has incredibly high standards when it comes to potatoes.

We do have chicken tenders in the UK, they're called chicken selects. The sauces they do for them are amazing. Bbq (but fancy), Sour cream and sweet chilli

I think a few of those ingredients might be banned here in the UK. We have quite strict guidelines in some areas.

I lived in Bristol in the UK and there was a takeout that did a crispy creme burger - a beef patty, 2 slices of cheese between 2 glazed ring donuts. Also UK food labelling laws are very strict any of 14 allergens have to be clearly declared and with Natasha's Law all ingredients must be listed. In McDonalds if a customer asks about the ingredients you must hand them the folder containing all ingredients for each product and let them read it themselves, you are NOT allowed to read it to them in case you miss an item. Additionally the beef used in McDonalds products in the UK is all UK and Irish sourced which prohibits the use of growth hormone in the breeding of the cattle, a practice which is common in beef cattle used for American McDonalds (and the reason your mother told you it would advance your development - wise woman). There have been many demonstrations in the UK about McDonalds contributing to Amazon Deforestation for Beef farming but this again was a mainly US thing. Basically the UK McD's sources beef and eggs from UK and Ireland, wheat products from the EU and UK and Chicken from Thailand as a rough guide.

The UK veggie burgers have been replaced with McPlant (plant based, pretend meat) burgers now. Very nice. CaRaMel! 😉 The reason the polar ice caps are disappearing is because America is using them up in their massive drinks cups. 😄 If Anna wants some hot mustard, she should try Colemans English mustard!! It'll melt the wax in your ears!

That’s the most American thing you’ve ever said. That made me cry with laughter 😂

I am English but live in Spain, one thing that we have in our McDonald's here, that you don't have in either UK or USA is BEER, on draft!!! You can have it as your drink with your Mcmeal🎉

FYI... propylene glycol thats in your fries is also used for the production of polyester resins. that are used to produce polyurethanes. And Propylene glycol is also used in water-based acrylic architectural paints to extend dry time. And is also used in antifreeze.. yum..
