Why will AI such as ChatGPT and CapCut will replace video editors but what does that mean for you as an aspiring video creator??

Disagree AI just a tool for helping hand of Video Editor

Have you ever worked with a showrunner, network exec., demanding director, etc.? Their demands and notes are funneled through people to get it done. They're not executing that process, nor will they ever, even if it involves just inputting words in a box and pressing enter. The job description of an editor/motion graphics person will quickly change over time, but in the foreseeable near future there will be a person responsible for editorial to accommodate the human factor. Explainer videos, corp. communication-like content - yeah, that function will be moved over to someone uploading a script and getting a product vs. employing an in-house production dept. I guess this tables bigger questions - will musicians, artist, photographers, production crews, actors, etc., become jobless? I guess it all depends on how much the audience cares about genuine content. Now, the Oscars can go away but... lol.

But then. What do I do. I need to make money freelancing. I am already broke learning video editing. I own Davinci Resolve. Hold on. What would the owner of video editing software feel after AI replaces all of this. Only one or two video editing software will be used that have advanced AI in the future.

Great video, but I disagree with your conclusions. As a video editor, I am noticing the incredible power of AI. It’s not just coming for entry-level video editors but advanced one’s like premiere pro, Davinci, resolve and final cut. Just like midjourney decimated the creative art industry in a few months, photo realistic video AI applications will make the classic editor irrelevant. The capabilities of AI grow exponentially and soon all that will be required is a text input requesting the kind of content your want. I’ve used ChatGPT for screenplay ideas and eventually to write the screenplay itself and it did a relatively good job. The next stage will be imputing the script into a AI editor with certain parameters like the look, feel, colour grading, and if you want VFX and it will be able to create photorealistic content. Or if you have the raw footage, upload it and it will edit it. So in the next 3-7 years editors, colourists, sound engineers and even directors of photography won’t have a job.
