Data merge is so powerful. Don't know where I would be without it sometimes. Thanks for sharing Anne.

Hi Anne, do you have to spend time sizing your images before importing them? I'm wondering if InDesign brings them in at 100% size or if it will automatically fit content to frame proportionally?

On Mac when you have your images selected and you right click, you can then hold a hot key down (I forget if it’s cmd or alt) and there’s also a Copy as Path option. other options change in the context menu too !

Thank you for this video ! I love using import and variables in illustrator but I hear it’s even more powerful in in design .

Would love to use it for things like my invoice template, variables for the client name/contact info, invoice number date, then each line item. But is there a way I can move other elements (like the invoice total) down or up depending on the number of line items ? Like can we loop through each line item and make a text object for it and then have the Total Due under that, no matter how many there are ?

I’m very new to InDesign . Recently realized that I’ve been using the wrong tool, creating PDFs in illustrator 😂

This is great! I will use this to try out a use case. I have cards, 4 per sheet. Can I use a data source and name the target? Image 1, image 2, image 3, image 4, and text1, text2, text3, text4? If I have a template design can I use a file to create this. Or maybe the process is to use 1 template group and replicate it with 4 records? Hmmm - sounds like some fun to figure out.

This is very helpful, but my images just aren't importing. I can't figure out why. I have the ' before image in the heading, and I've tried with the entire path and just the image name.jpeg (they're in the same folder as the .csv file). Anything else I should try?

Hello Anne! I'm trying to use data merging to make a carometer, but it just doesn't work...

I need to place photos and data of many people in a customized layout. But when I load data, indesign only shows one person over and over again. Could you help me?
