I think this song is really clever at showing how close minded and selfishDaniel is. From the way he describes her in this song just seems like he's projecting his frustrations with high society women. But the melody sounds like a love song because that's how Ti Moune perceives it. idk maybe I just like to hate on Daniel. Ti Moune deserved better. But to be fair if I had Issac Cole serenade me like that I'd fall in love with him too. I mean he could sing a whole song calling me a piece of shit but if he sang like that i'd die for him too.

truly one of those where at first listen it's incredibly charming and romantic but after listening to the lyrics better it's just a big yikes for daniel's character -- afraid of being with women "better" (more skilled, sophisticated, educated, cultured, clever, etc.) than him, "you're not like other girls" vibes, etc
