Introduction to Bad Debt Expense

This video introduces bad debt expense and two methods to record bad debt: direct write-off and the allowance method. Journal entries to record an account written off are shown under both methods. We also discuss the concept of Net Accounts Receivable and how a write off under the allowance method affects the Net Accounts Receivable balance.
