It's only gravy when the layout is spot on. If someone misses their mark, it can be a mess and a nightmare routing things around. This job looks like it was laid out perfectly, cable entrance is directly under the breaker and not any deeper into the enclosure than needed. Someone did their homework. 👍

Probably should have the torque wrench for the lugs in the shot. It keeps an inspector in stride right past you 👷🏿‍♂️

What wasn’t shown was the apprentices running the PVC for the underground, spacing the conduits properly in the trench, making sure the conduit stubbed up and spaced evenly, staking down the PVC so they wouldn’t float when encased in slurry. This guy came over and got to the easy shit.

It’s all fun to look at someone do it but I do this I’m a journeyman wireman for union local 613 I’m telling you it’s not easy specially when it’s cold and you have to bend those wires to form into the breakers. 500 600 or 750 takes a massive amount of strength to pull off the wire reel but I do love it. Also there are extra steps sense you can’t trust the color coded tape if you have to service it

My foreman always preaches professionalism and that at the end of the day when they’re ready to inspect the panel before they close it up and energize it, you let them know who worked on it by how you get your work done. This type of work may not be art to the customer but it sure is art to the electrician.

I work in IT - back office stuff like network infrastructure server management data farms etc.
I am certified to run most data cable types.
I remember in college being offered an electrician course to do stuff like this
And I said "the voltage I deal with cant kill me, nah im good".

Still no Deox prior to tin coated COPPER lugs. And...if they are aluminium, same thing applies!

He has the positions of the wires alternating, so the red bus has some non-red connectors, etc. L1 needs to be L1 into the breaker and L1 out of the breaker. You would see a common pattern for each breaker, like blue-yellow-red, blue-yellow-red, etc.

No scuffing the aluminum before applying oxidation protection before inserting the wire into the lugs, and no torque wrench being used. Lug bolts could have a dab of custom colored epoxy inside the hex bolt to witness if there has been tampering. Date of installation, company name, name, and signature are nice to see.
