rennen or laufen? What's the difference?

Today's script: Ich renne zur Bushaltestelle. (I run to the bus stop.)
Ich gehe drei Mal pro Woche laufen. ( I go running three times a week)
"rennen" and "laufen" can both mean to run. So what’s the difference?
Well, rennen is closer to "to race" or "to sprint." Its fast, urgent running at full speed or not far off.
Er rennt um sein Leben. (He's running for his life.)
Die Kinder rennen im Park. (The kids are racing in the park.)
"Laufen" doesn’t imply such speed or urgency, it could be a leisurely run or jog:
Ich laufe jeden Morgen 5 Kilometer. (I run 5 kilometers every morning.)
Laufen can also mean "to walk", maybe contrasted with going by vehicle
Sie läuft zur Arbeit. (She walks to work.)
And back with “to run” in the phrase Der Film läuft im Kino. (The movie is running in the cinema.) “laufen” can mean to play or to show.
