I’m a junior in high school and my coach has me jumping this weekend. Mind you I’ve NEVER competed in long jump. The only time I’ve ever jumped in the pit was practice in 8th grade🥲

Folks... she is not demonstrating the jump but the Approach - that is a different phase... the Approach is done before the jump or Take

I was really excited at the start of the video, then I saw her run and now I'm just disappointed that I could probably beat her in a race.

Confused. There was no sprint or jump. How can someone learn without seeing the finished product? If you do a tutorial an example should follow. Waste of time.

I do middle school track and we do it less "professional". What I do is sprint what my approach is going to be. I usually take 10-12 steps when I am approaching the line. So when I'm sprinting to the line I always count my steps to make sure I jump off my leading foot (that is my left foot). Also when you count your steps correctly you won't scratch or foul. This is just tips from men I hope it helps.

The video is so clear and she speaks about and demonstrates the approach.... it's like a movie. We are waiting to see the final product. I realize the title is long jump basics and she was focusing on the approach but the title does not say, long jump approach. I am PE teacher wanting to show my class and I would have been happy to use this video if she had jumped. Now I have to find a video of jumping. Basics of long jump should still include the long jump. This is just an opinion but it seems to be shared.
