How do you measure height from the scalp in a stadiometer as there is hair upon the head?

How accurate are those bmi machines at gyms that do height? weight body fat ect for height.
I seem to measure taller standing with my back to stadiometerr than front on, in bmi machine by a few cms ?

That time my hieght was 169.1 then i cheked my height with my tap hieght is 167 which is correct?

Why the heck do we need to put our legs agaisnt the bar or even shoulder and head. like who is standing like that in real life? It could be lose 1 centimeter with that posture. How is that a real height?
