Lockhart is so self-obsessed it’s actually hilarious

A spell has two things it needs, function and intent.
The function of avada kedavra is to kill.
So if you use that spell with no intent to kill, as moody says, you can barely give someone a nosebleed.

Same with harry casting cruciatus curse on bellatrix.
Bella says, you've got to mean it.

Explelliarmus is a spell which emits a small shockwave that can be used to blast something small.
But since the function "blast" and snape's intent to blast away, not just lockhart's wand but also lockart himself, it aligned with the expelliarmus spell's function. Thus blasting, not only the wand but the wielder as well.

Snape totally wanted to do that since he first met Lockhart. 😂

Lockhart: *Acts a fool to try to impress his students*
Snape: *Badassery comes naturally to him, no acting required*

The better question: Why would Lockhart agree to duel with Snape?

Keep in mind that when Snape was hit by the combined power of Harry’s Ron’s and Hermione’s Expelliarmus spells it knocked him back and unconscious from hitting the wall so hard. This would imply that the not only is Snape a powerful wizard but that he intentionally did not hold back when facing Lockhart. Also, none of the teachers liked Lockhart, so it is not surprising that any of them especially Snape would take advantage of such an opportunity.

So you're saying Harry Potter did the exact same trick to Snape in Prisoner of Azkaban?

I thank he did cast expelliamrmess because in the official Harry Potter spell book, it says explelliamrmess if used to forcefully can knock someone off your feet

That make him a scary duelist. He could have been the most powerful wizard in history if he lived past 38

That's great out of the box thinking! Snape is more sneaky than we thought.

To be fair, the effects of Expelliarmus change between the movies. While in some scenes we see the “normal” effect of the charms (blasting the wand out of someone’s hand), in the Prisoner Of Azkaban Harry uses Expelliarmus on Snape and the effect of the charms is similar to the one seen in this video.

Okay but snapes hair in the Voldemort scene is to die for 😍

1. That's a good theory.

2. If that's true that's elite level wizardry. Forget silent spells. Preparing for one thing while dealing with another would be OP

In books, Harry, Ron and Hermione use Expelliarmus to Snape and he flies too. When Harry use it to Voldemort, his curse turned himself and he dead. People can use expelliarmus for different reasons like expecto patronam.

This is one of the reasons I think Snape is one of the very powerful wizards. Snape's skills are no joke

I’ve always thought that the movies just changed how the spell works so it knocks back whatever it’s aimed at so if you aim at someone’s hand, it knocks the wand out of their hand and if you aim it at someone directly it knocks them back

Then how was Harry able to knock Snape back in the Shrieking Shack, with Expelliamrmess?

Yeah, no. It's just a way to make Lockhart look more goofy. Nothing special about it.
