I'm Molly, a typical sushi, makeup, and fashion loving millennial girl who just so happens to be blind! I was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa at just 4 years old and began public speaking at age 5. I started just doing motivational speaking, but now I make videos and even model! Even though I can’t see, I know that there are bright spots in everything we face. Let’s find them together. 💕

I think that Elton is egocentric or anxious but he knows that it’s presence is an add-on that makes videos more funny. I love your dog.

To understand this, I never had a clue this existed! Thank you for describing this 🤗

Molly love the pink outfit and the educational information, I experience this when I have migraines after my three brain surgeries, it's painful and annoying. Elton John is checking out his mom doesn't need his help ❤.

as someone with photosensitive epilepsy, I am so curious if that would trigger a seizure if it was inside of my own eyelids 😮

Lots of pretty lights. Until they make you dizzy walking in the grocery store. I can see the stars and the galaxy with an extra pop of color every night in the dark. Sometimes the patterns keep you awake. I like the copper lights I see at times

I literally deal with the same exact thing! I have Stargardts disease and it’s the same thing except I have the flashy colors and my central vision. Honestly, I have used medical marijuana, and it has dulled down the flashiness a little bit, but still exists.

I think the issue is most people, unless interested in knowing about blindness, don’t seek information. My point is that it’s not taught to us, unless someone in school is having issues so most of us know it exists but that’s it.
It’s only if someone in the family has blindness that it changes it I think.

And tbh it’s not just blindness but any disability, if you use a wheelchair you must be paralysed, so then coz you use it on bad days, walking on good people say you fake it.
Sadly I do think it’s people ignorance and lack of understanding, sometimes people know but don’t care.
I feel that everyone should spend time in a disabled persons community and in there shoes- so they understand a little more. But that’s a personal thing, I know people who have become disabled and it changed who they were physically but also there mental thinking of others too, made them a better person as they were no longer ignorant and stuck up lol
Take care molly and continue what you doing, as I didn’t know about the colours you see. Personally I did presume that some of your vision was fully coloured, ie back or gray- not seeing what is there and thought this of all. I know you have no vision but light so can see the light under a handrail for example. But didn’t know about the colours. That must be hard to sleep, I know I close my eyes and it’s dark. And personally I hope that doesn’t change, as with my other issues I need to be able to close my eyes and see nothing, so I can see calmness xx

Yes, I have this as well… It is also termed visual snow… For me I don’t think the Charles Bonet syndrome description fits completely because it’s not just the flashing lights, it’s shapes and static and after images and every other kind of annoying visual trash going on constantly, and yes, when my eyes are closed and trying to sleep. I think it is neurological more than it is to do with the eyes since it happens when the eyes are closed as well. I’m also diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa.

I have Myopic Macular Degeneration. Its often brighter the darker my environment is. Like once I reach a minimum threshold of visual input, I see blobs of lilac and gold morphing around my vision. Technically I might be able to see in dim light, but what little night vision I have left is actually obstructed by the lights I see. So it's not just the deterioration of my vision that is making me more blind, but the side effects of it as well.

To me, Charles Bonnet syndrome is like confetti/glitters. I see little specs of light. They are very annoying distractions

That visual that was added was really interesting to see!

That’s really fascinating, Molly, I had no idea that existed!

Wrll, I guess that makes sense because I have significant hearing loss on my left ear due to Meniere's Disease. It is accompanied by tinnitus...non-stop. It's annoying and noisy. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So, I had a detached retna and a macular hole in my eye. It was the strangest sensation. I don't truly know if this is what it's like being blind. But it just looked like I was looking into nothing. It wasn't black/dark, it wasn't white, it wasn't clear. It wasn't colours. It was litterly nothing, like looking into an empty hole.

When you described going blind as colours fading but also as black fading to grey, that really fascinated me because the absence of black in the absence of sight was really hard for me to conceptualise.
