Natürlich ist das ein Werbefilm. Es geht hier nicht darum, was in diesem Film stimmt und nicht. Es ist ein tolles Zeitdokument, das Erinnerungen weckt. Also Danke, Danke, Danke fürs Hochladen!

Das Kuriose ist, dass, bis auf ein paar Ladas, die Kamerateams hauptsächlich westdeutsche Autos wie Mercedes, Audi oder Opel, hin und wieder auch mal einen Renault, eingefangen haben. Als ob der normale DDR-Bürger diese Fahrzeuge erwerben konnte :-)

Ich bin 1988 für einen Tag von west- nach ost-berlin, gereist, war damals 19.... sehr nette bekanntschaften und sehr aufgeschlossene Menschen kennengelernt.... Seit dem Liebe ich diese Stadt.

Puh, Alexanderplatz war ja mal ein richtiger Platz, nicht so ne Brache zwischen Alexa, Kaufhof, Saturn und Primark.

Ich wurde 1966 in WEST Berlin Geboren, das war die Schönste Zeit meines Lebens, die Mauer war für mich ganz Normal, sie hat mich nicht gestört, sie war Einfach da und Basta, es ging mir SEHR gut, Finanziell, hatte immer gut bezahlte Arbeit ( Berlin- Zulage ) usw.

What I also find interesting is that many older former West Berliners miss the Wall. In order to keep people from leaving, the former West Germany would offer financial incentives to anyone willing to live in West Berlin. If they were civil servants, for example, they got higher salaries than their counterparts in other West German regions and young men were exempt from military service. All those benefits vanished when the Wall came down. It's like they always say; you never know how good you have it when you have it.

I get a kick out of reading magazine articles about the former East Germany. Especially those published in the 70s kept saying that "the Wall is here to stay" and that "there can never be reunification between the two Germanys". Even the people themselves were not holding their breath that reunification would ever happen. During the 1972 Summer Olympics held in Munich, about 100 East Germans were awarded tickets to see the Games and many of then returned saying "I could never live there. All anyone cares about is money" and how "shocked" they were to see so many men with long hair and women wearing mini-skirts and other revealing clothing. But in the end, the seemingly impossible happened.

I happened to be in East Berlin in July 1989, just months before the Wall came tumbling down and never thought at that time that it was conceivable. Taking the train from West Berlin and arriving on the other side of the Wall was an experience in itself and what a contrast there was between the two parts of Berlin, as if one had gone back about 30 years in time. Still, I consider myself fortunate that I made the journey and to witness the beginning of the end of that country.

1:55 das waren aber schon Privilegierte die da so nahe an das Tor ran durften.Für normale Bürger war doch an der Absperrung ca. 100 Meter vorher Ende im Gelände.
