It's great to see Paul Di Anno getting his due. He's often overlooked because of how legendary Bruce ended up being in the band, but those first couple of Iron Maiden records are excellent.

Rewatching this, with a mix of nostalgia and deep sadness at the news about Paul. :(
Absolute legend!

I'm so glad you reacted to Maiden's original singer. Bruce is iconic, but Paul D'Anno is great in his own right.

No one could ever sing this song as well as Paul not even Bruce.. This is one of my favourite Maiden songs ever..

From what I read, Paul wrote this song following his grandfather's death in 1980. He died from the effects of diabetes. His grandfather's favorite catch phrase was: "You never know what is going to happen, remember tomorrow, it might be a better day." I admit I didn't know that Iron Maiden had a different lead singer before Bruce until this reaction. Great reaction as always Beth.

On October 21, 2024, Paul Di’Anno, former vocalist of Iron Maiden, passed away at the age of 66 in Salisbury, United Kingdom. May God bless him and protect his family. Thank you from Brazil, Paul!

That must be a huge loss for fans. His voice really left a mark on heavy metal history.🎤🎧🎸🥁💔

This was the version of Iron Maiden I encountered first, back in the early 80s. I fell in love with the first two albums, but especially Killers. When Di Anno was replaced, the band changed its character. Less punky, less rock n roll, more power metal. I still really liked them (and still do), but those first two albums have a feel I will always return to, and a lot of that has to do with Paul’s vocals.

I first saw Iron Maiden (with Di'Anno) in 1980 at the Marquee in London. I was deaf for a couple of days afterwards. They were brilliant and Di'Anno's singing on those first two albums is great. Although Bruce Dickinson is often seen as the final piece in the puzzle the band needed to make them the phenomenon they became, I actually prefer Di'Anno's individuality and punky image - far from the classic metal belt/scream of Dickinson. The first 3 Maiden/Dickinson Albums are great, but Di'Anno, if he avoided the problems, may have stayed on and Maiden would have still been excellent, although they'd have to hire their own pilot.

Man I am always impressed how Dave Murray could burn out such a solo and still seem to be total modest on it. It is just amazing. And look at Clive Burr at the drums. R.I.P Clive. But he is drumming the hell out of his set at the solo. Man... If I only have been at this show. I would give my life for it.

After he left Maiden, he had some solo stints and was with other bands. Some are definetly worth a hearing.
