In summary, increase flavored air intake, decrease oil intake.

Well, I went a higher fat but no oil Whole Food Plant Based for years but never lost weight until I gave up the avocado, nuts, and things like tahini. Dr. Furhman said that it is because when you up the fats, you have to adjust the calories and Doug Lisle said that some people don't have stretch receptors that pick up on fat calories and I am one of those people. After years of not losing weight, I went low fat and lost 40 pounds and reversed Type 2 Diabetes. Just going non-processed food, no oil vegan didn't accomplish it. Honestly, it took a few months for low-fat Whole Food Plant-Based to accomplish it.

10:25 The chart shows that the low EVOO group ate 400 calores less than both baseline and high EVOO diets. That's insanely bad study design. This study isn't about olive oil anymore, it's about calorie restriction with 2 baseline diets.

23% calorie restriction in that Low EVOO group, that basically nullifies the ability to make any conclusion. 1350 kcal, that is a serious weight loss diet.

From the study it just seems like they added olive oil on top of the whole food diet, they didn't replace the EVOO with nuts or whole grains. The calorie intake for the low EVOO diet was 1338 and for the high EVOO diet it was 1745.

Just sharing my personal experience regarding olive oil, being in Spain in the mediterranian is quite hard to avoid olive oil because it's part of our food traditions. When using olive oil about 2tbps per day, I notice improve memory and cognitive function as the most relevant benefits. When I remove olive oil completely after a few weeks I notice improvements in cardio and exercise output. I guess not every thing can be black and white and people may react differently to different foods. At least olive oil is vegan and if it helps people to consume more plant based meals that's great. For someone with chronic disease it's not that easy and probably better to avoid all oils at least for a certain period of time!

I gave up oils, including olive oil, 3 years ago and it really helps to keep the weight off. I will occasionally have walnuts, avocados and olives and I feel great.

I am seeing a lot of calorie difference comments that didn't seem to watch to the point where I addressed this topic. If oil is increasing calorie consumption and calorie consumption is creating a difference, then oil is creating a difference.

Not sure FUM is a great sponsor if you care about population health... I can see people trying FUM and then wanting to try vaping because of it (omg slippery slope) but seriously why push people into being addicted to inhaling through something

If you're a healthy individual with no heart issues you can be healthy and lean without cutting all the fat from your diet. I was shocked to find out 40 minutes of exercise per day is the absolute minimum for a healthy lifestyle. Since I'm more active and have gained some muscle I lost weight without any changes to my wfpb diet, and I even started using minimal amounts of oil when I feel like it. Before I was stuck thinking I had to cut out all the fat but the reality was I was a healthy no-oil couch potato. 🥔

Olive oil varies so much in quality too - ideally you eat extra virgin which is no more than a few months old from an organic, small farm. It’s so expensive you’re not going to be using that much anyway!

It's hard to imagine havine 15% or less of calories from fat. My diet is WFPB, oil free. I track everything with cronometer, so I know how much fat I'm getting. On my very best days, all it takes is a handful of walnuts, a tablespoon of flax seed, half an avocado, and cup of soy milk to get 37 grams of fat. If the rest of my food for the entire day was super low fat (e.g. fruit, backed potato, etc.), that still is about 20% of my calories. Throw in a tablespoon of nut butter, and forget it. WFPB, no-oil, I am lucky to get <25%.. If someone has advice on keeping it below 20%, happy to hear it.

Enjoying the content but also surprised about the Fum product. Probably because Im a former smoker (quit 13 yrs ago) but this just doesnt sit right.
Why promote something so useless… and is there even long term studies that shows this is harmless? There are plenty of fidget products out there so I really don’t know why you would have to breath in flavoured air as well.

I mean - it really is cementing a habit that we shouldnt have. Re-think this.

Ill just use a teaspoon here and a teaspoon there and not worry about it. Gotta have some type of fun in life.

I probably get away from FUM sponsor. From every angle it isnt good. Just keeps people at the cusp of smoking, vaping, hand gestures and inhalation habits and more. Doesn't solve anything.

Also, Bryan Johnson with his olive oil consumption? They should do an experiment with his version lol.

Interesting. Neal Barnard has a study showing how mitochondria in muscles increase when you go off oil and added fats. That could be one reason the low oil group felt more like exercising.
