Typical User: **Install Linux Mint - watches YouTube** Looks good. **Install Manjaro Mint - watches YouTube** Looks the same. Which one do I pick? :/

8:06 in Arch or Manjaro. Yes you can enable the GUI support in pamac file manager. Just install 'plugins' for Flatpak and Snap.

Drivers are available in Manjaro settings, you were a bit too fast. I use both of them, Linux mint in the living room on TV for the family and Manjaro cinnamon on my desktop computer. Cinnamon + Nemo are the best combo I have tried. KDE and dolphin are very good too. Sorry to gnome users and nautilus but even Mate or Xfce are more productive IMHO.

While viewing Theme's in the control area... would have been nice if you'd show the add/remove button -- ton's of stuff for you to select from if you think you are missing anything from the 'standard' Cinnamon that you may be used to in LinuxMint (LM is my preferred distro but Manjaro Cinnamon is a great one too).

Thank you for taking the time in comparing these two

Using Manjaro KDE for the last few months as IT student and never had any breaks and stuff. One thing where Manjaro/Arch really stands out for me is the AUR.

If I want to install Sonarr in Ubuntu I first have to add ppa's for Mono, mediainfo and Sonarr. Then I can install it and then I have to create a startup service file for myself.
In Manjaro. I enable the AUR. Search for Sonarr. Press install and everything is done for me.

Its all what you prefer. But can't live without the AUR anymore.

I had been using Mint cinnamon for years, with great stability, then tried manjaro Kde just for fun..i discovered after trying different Kernels etc.. that the issues i had were KDE related and not problems with Manjaro. so i can honestly say that Manjaro in Cinnamon, or XFCE can be very stable and useable if you know what and when to update. However definately stay clear of KDE if you want stability, I do pound quite hard on distros, so if you only do basic things perhaps your experience will be different.

Tho I use Manjaro XFCE, I do not update as soon as they are released. Always read the forum announcement that lets you know how it went and what problems happened. Then how to fix.
Always use Timeshift just to make sure, then update a day or two later. Would never do update while working. I used Mint last year and loved the online accounts feature.
The only problem I've had was my wifi driver. Had it on both systems. AUR fixed the Majaro. Had to manually fix the kernel to get the Mint going. Not difficult, was required a bit more work.
Last month, I was missing Mint and reinstalled it. After 2 days I returned to Manjaro. It was easier for me to customize, snappier on my system, and (for me) the forum was better for researching issues.
For a new user, install, run, and forget...I'd still recommend Mint.

During your reviews of comments a person asked whether governments know about back doors into Linux you said yes probably. Maybe they do know back doors but the opensource nature and community reliance on the operating system means that they get discovered faster and patched unlike a closed systems. Windows recently had a back door exposed that was unpatched in the operating system for 20 years. How many hackers and governments knew about that back door. But on the other hand every cpu since around 2008 (i think) has a backdoor regardless of OS because of the Intel Management Engine and AMD also has their version of IME. If you want to avoid this I recommend libiquity computers they remove the IME completely and every thing on their system is FSF certified.

Please also include “known issues with the OS” in your list of qualifiers

I've been using manjaro for 2 years now. Never had many issues at all. It's fast, I can get whatever I need from other distros ported on the AUR, the kernel swapping to bleeding edge kernels is amazing and easy. I started using Manjaro for my main ryzen 7 gaming PC since I couldn't stand windows 10 anymore. Every game I like from windows plays via wine/lutris or proton/steam very easily. Manjaro was the first distro to totally kill the need to swap back to Windows for gaming for me, everything works great.

Manjaro Cinnamon doesn't give you your Online Accounts as standard, but relatively easy to fix if you need it. Both awesome versions depending on your specific needs. I'd be happy with either... or LMDE :)

Hey I just watched some of your videos, I just want to know about some secure linux distros to use for a beginner or a new user. And what are your thoughts on PureOS, I know you did a video about it but it was 2 years ago.

I have no idea if this is an issue with cinnamon's take on mutter but my h264/h265 videos drop frames like heavy on cinnamon manjaro even with all that gstreamer and other multimedia codec. Mint cinnamon and manjaro xfce/kde with the same codecs and mpv config does not experience this issue. The easy workaround for this issue on arch-based cinnamon was to disable interpolation on my mpv config...but I really need that to compete with my chad MPC-HC+MadVR config.
