Prairie Quilt {FREE fat quarter pattern using the Illinois state quilt block!}

The Prairie quilt is made using the traditional Illinois state quilt block. This block contains two of my favorite quilt elements, the half square triangle and flying geese! I’ll show you how to make these large blocks (and the no-waste method of making flying geese!) so that you can complete your own Prairie quilt.

~ Material Requirements ~
16 fat quarters
3 ½ yards background fabric
4 ½ yards backing fabric
¾ yard binding fabric

I have already conscripted a fat quarter bundle to make this quilt. It is so easy to make. I typically don't make big blocks. I ask now, "Why not?" Quick and easy. I made one test block to solidify my construction technique. 💡 I did slightly oversize the goose and the sky (7 1/2" and 4") to give myself some room to trim down with my trim down ruler.
