I hope it doesn’t fail. I also want to see the bronze in Ravenclaw to return

I just don't trust Hollywood anymore. I've been burnt too many times. This new season of Rings of Power drives that fact home.

Welcome back.
I don't if it'll fail. All i know is that my dream of an HBO series about HP, one season from each book, is coming to reality

The one thing with the cast is while yes many of the movie actors are iconic very few of the main characters actually met the full physical description of their book counterparts and if the actors for the show have those details right whether naturally or through Hollywood Magic it will help them stand out and be accepted. A few examples Harry and Lily having GREEN eyes, Age appropriate casting for the Marauders, Lily, and Snape. James and Lily died in their early 20s the glimpses we get of them should reflect this, Sirius, Remus, Severus, and Peter are only meant to be in their late 30s, I could go on like how Hagrid is Taller then Madam Maxine in the books and so on…😮‍💨 Lastly the Show has the advantage of being able to look at the last decade plus of Fan critiques and can see what we absolutely want to see in the show that never made it to screen or even as a deleted scene from characters to specific scenes and plot lines . If they note those and use them in the show correctly I think we’ll get a very successful series. And while we clearly aren’t going the animation route with this show perhaps they’ll go that route if they branch out to give us other shows we’ve been asking for such as a Mauraders show or a founders series or perhaps even a show that follows the children of Harry and Friends that can retcon the dumbster fire known as Cursed Child out of existence!

Sincerely a Slytherin

I know what you were implying. I am gonna say it cuz no one else has the balls to HERMIONE IS NOT BLACK! The only reason that people think so is bcuz a black chick played her in the play. Multiple times throughout the books she was described as being white

At this point I'd be okay with an animated/ digital series, especially if it would get it out faster. By the time we get another live action, I'm gonna be able to live off my 401k

I really hate the idea of calling the movies "the original" or that the characters are "recast".
They films are a non-canonical adaptation, no more or less important than the upcoming television series, or the video games. We can only ever compare the series to the books, as a fellow adaptation of the original source material.

Thanks for the video! Im excited to see how they do, more loyal to the Canon, and I can't wait to see your coverage of it!

First!🎉 I had to check the notification to see Folklore and not Theory ❤

Lets be honest. Only a few of the movies were close to faithful adaptations abd even those had glaring flaws thanks to Steve Kloves' obsession with making Hermione's character perfect even at the expense of other characters.

I don't think it's going to do well.

Okay hear me out,
They have to make it animated. I have my reasonssss!
Number one ☝️ The original cast was incredible and a lot of people cannot imagine any other actors playing those rolls, but if the characters were animated, they would be 100% book accurate and age accurately, as well as not replacing the original cast entirely.
Number 2 ✌️ if it were animated, they would not have to rebuild all the old set and props (exactly the same as the old movies).
Number 3 ☝️✌️ how cool would spells in fights and all magic look if it were animated?? Lighting would be incredible, fights would be outstanding with many different angles, and spells, in my opinion, much cooler than a live action fight would be. (not to mention, they could actually get Lily and Harry‘s eyecolor right 💀)
I would be so excited if they said it was animated (because it would be something new to expect, instead of just probably the same thing as before) who else would be?

I personally would rather get a series on the four founders of Hogwarts a origin story on the deathly hallows featuring the 3 Brothers or a Nicolas Flamel series on how he created the sorcerer Stone

I’m one of those who wholeheartedly support the upcoming TV series. I understand the potential challenges, especially with beloved actors from the movies still holding a special place in people's hearts, and the inevitable comparisons that will arise. However, I believe it’s important to approach this series as a separate entity. We can appreciate the movie versions for what they are while also embracing a series that aims to stay true to the books, potentially offering new perspectives and interpretations.

My hope is that MAX deliver something truly special and that audiences are willing to give it a chance. The movies, while fantastic in their own right, diverged significantly from the source material after the third installment. I’m eager to see an adaptation that captures the essence of what made me fall in love with the books in the first place. I’ll always love the movies for what they are, but I’m excited to see a version that stays closer to the books I cherish.

It would only be lackluster of originality to book fans... If they actually follow the books, Like they said they would, and I hope they will.
But then it again, I still doubt that because it'll be in Film form. If they do it properly it'll be good. It'll be fun. Hopefully it will be original because the books form of Harry Potter will be in film. I would like that. I love the books, and it won't overtake me away from the movies this dude is so wrong, The only thing that he could be right on is casting controversies

So much was left out of the movies, so the show is definitely needed for us who HP no over saturation here. However understand the rest of the points. I hope it does not fail.

If this is going to be a ten season series or whatever they said, these new actors probably ably won’t be around for the whole series (unless it’s a huge success), also the viewership will also dwindle as the series goes on, school, work, adulting, life etc. I think your point of over saturation is key.
Yes the movies took I don’t remember how many years to come out, but they were coming out as the books were so it was exciting. A book would come out then a movie. We had suspense not knowing what to expect etc. those were great times, but sadly the tv show won’t have that. We all know how it ends who dies who lives. I think once we see the actors watch the first season, if it doesn’t wow us, it won’t last. It’s a Herculean task these folks are undertaking, and they absolutely MUST get it right, right out of the gate or they can pack it in after the first episode. I’m very curious but, sceptical and hopeful.

Referencing original actors as “relatively unknown before HP” is INSANE.. sure that’s true for the child actors .. but all of the equally important adult actors who played Sirius, Remus, Hagrid, Snape, Dumbledore, McGonagall, the Weasley parents and soo soo many more were all extremely experienced and considered British acting royalty even before they were cast.

I actually think they will be harder to re-cast than the child actors because the level of experience they brought to the set.

Additionally you missed the fact that we don’t know if the strict rule that only allowed actors from the UK will be upheld for the TV show like it was in the films. Something essential to casting that meant there were no fake accents -as the show is being made by HBO there is a risk they won’t apply this. Or even worse will shoot this show in the US rather than throughout England and Scotland. Which I think would be a horrible decision and take away from the true British nature of the series. ‘Americanising’ it would just be awful.

There’s also an endless number of other risks for this TV series that weren’t discussed - I could truly write a dissertation on this whole topic.

I completely agree it only comes down to whether or not they stick Faithfully to the source material. Hopefully they learned a lesson from all the other franchise failures who did not stick to the source material

the original cast for good but it didn't hang on them a lot of work from everyone around them went into making them look good. A competent new cast has an opportunity to portray the characters even better and potentially not oversell Hermione and undersell Ron this time.

If they give us the elements the movie's never did and make them book accurate there's your fresh take. Also it would be interesting to see how the story handles well-known plot holes.

there is no reason whatsoever to consider this day and age in any shape or form because the story is not about this day and age.

I recall overexposure helping the Harry Potter game not hindering it. Audience taste don't really change there is a specific formula time-tested through the Millennia that works allowing stories hundreds of years old to still capture modern audience imaginations. All they have to do is stick to that well-known formula in storytelling and stay faithful to the source material.

Casting controversy is easily settled by following the book's description as best as possible and ignoring every other concern other than how well they play the Character.

The real #1 reason this show will not work is if the bigots in the woke community force their agenda into the show. We have seen it with Doctor Who, Star Trek, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings all of which are now done. It has ended the MCU and brought the Disney powerhouse to its knees with its failures. Keeping that nonsense away from this and ignoring them is the best way to keep this show from being a failure from the start. The idea we need something for modern audience is ridiculous. Good stories with universal themes transcend generations and time.
