After the unplanned separation and divorce from my wife almost 4 years ago, I took my dog, my truck, and my small RV trailer on the road full-time. It was risky, scary, but also exciting. At this point, it feels really right to me and I have no plans to stop in the near future. I have made a new life, reconnected with old friends and made new ones, and have seen every corner of the country. The road feels like home to me now.

I’m living a minimalist lifestyle and discovered that stress free is more healthy then living with stress, less you have = less stress 🙂

Much respect. Most wouldn’t have the courage to walk away on all that. I think most people think I’ve got 16 years in this I can’t leave and start over. Safe travels and many adventures.

Being single can be fun but what I have learned is that as you age it gets more and more important to have people in your life.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I went off grid at 50 years old and enabled by a small military pension got rid of all my possessions apart from what I could fit in a leather grip and started travelling. I have never returned to a Western country since and have hung out in some pretty out-there countries. I’ve drunk a lot of beers, smoked lots of cigarettes, and met a lot of folks. I love the life, sure you need an income of sorts, but not much. My pension of $1600 covers everything and I still manage to save around $500 per month. Just do it folks if you can, the Worlds waiting to meet you. It’s also good for your mental and physical health.

Don’t feel bad for your lifestyle or where you are in life. I did the same, lived out of a Rav 4 and then a truck. I got sick of it and found myself missing having a roof over my head and an address. Enjoy your freedom and be safe! Godspeed!

I can relate to this; had the house, the business, the employees, the overhead expenses... downsized into a van and now living our best lives yet.

I retired from the Army about 6 months ago. I was an Officer and did 22 years as a military RN. Single no kids/never married. I have a good retirement and I am seriously considering doing this. I think what you did by trying it at your parents house was very smart. Seeing what works and what doesn't, without being in the middle of nowhere.

The only thing that is holding me back from living off the grid and disconnected are my two little kids. I'm infatuated with overlanding and traveling. I'm really happy for you, Christine. I enjoy following you on YouTube and seeing you living your best life.

We've just put 18 months and well into 7 figures renovating our house. Last weekend we completed our move back from the house we were renting into our shiny new home. My wife, our 2 young kids and I (and 2 bunnies) somehow filled about 18 Toyota Hiace vans and 2 large removalist trucks with our possessions. To say it was a loud wake-up call is an understatement. In the last week we have given away a ton of furniture, appliances and things like bike racks, clothes and books.

There is a lot more to do and every item that leaves our house to add value to someone else's life adds a little more joy to us and less burden. What have we become?? It's very scary and contrary to my very humble beginnings and our life values.

Your honesty and story is inspiring and while I'm not about to disappear up the frog and toad (road) with a dog and a van, I will be working with the family to change our ways, reduce our possessions and spend more time with each other and our friends. Bless you and thanks from Sydney - Dave

It is very refreshing to see someone so young realize what is really important in life. I am 65 years old and I do wish I had realized that many life changing experiences can be eye opening spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically. But like the old saying goes, “It’s never too late”. I have realized that everyone’s timing in life for change and new experiences is different. Glad your timing is now. 😊

I am a 68-year-old woman and I love youtube and I just found your channel. I am so excited to watch you in your travels and how you go about your day. I think if I was younger, I probably would have done something like that. you would have to be smart and know what you’re doing so nothing happens to you. I really do admire what you do and the peace it seems to bring you. Sometimes when I look around at all the stuff that we have accumulated through the years, it makes me want to just get rid of everything, but my husband is not of that thinking. He likes to hold onto things. Stay happy and keep up with YouTube so we can enjoy your travels with you. Hugs. ❤

Thanks for your background and putting your story out there. I enjoy your videos, and live them vicariously through you. I am older and could not live in my car and travel but I appreciate that you can and do, and that you feel free to do so. It's your life, and you should live it the way you want to. Stay strong and safe out there!

Quotes to live by from this video:

"i had to really experience something myself to really understand it." I know that's right.

The people in your life make it worth living. Everything else is secondary.

If you've done something over and over again and, tried your best and still have no luck, then it's probably best to move on

I still have hard times, but bc I honor myself, I mostly live from a place of peace...and that feels right to me

I’m 57. I dream of Van life. I feel stuck with family. I want security. I just want to be a grandma, but have a long time to wait. Mostly, I want to be free… but secure and safe. I feel so lost right now.

Sharing yourself and personal information publicly is pretty brave. The internet isn't always kind so I commend you for it. I hope your channel grows as I like the message and good attitude.
