MSI MPG Z790 EDGE TI MAX WIFI feature review

Prawn here with my feature review of the MSI MPG Z790 EDGE TI MAX WIFI motherboard. In this video I'm covering the various features, specs and highlights of this motherboard, including showing you how it supports PCIe Gen 5 NVMe SSDs, but with a negative impact on your GPU. It also works with up to five NVMe SSDs and will work with 14th gen Intel CPUs too. Assuming you update your bios.

I used this MSI motherboard in a recent PC build in the Lian Li Evo RGB where I built that PC in various different ways but also tested it for general day-to-day use. I wanted to show various things here so hopefully you'll get some useful insight into this motherboard.

the question here is sir, if i use a gen4 in that slot do i still lose gpu lanes ? ( got the same motherboard coming btw ), or do i need to use the m2_2 slot if i dont want to lose gpu lanes ?

all z790 MB share bandwidth with PCIex16 gen 5 band M.2 gen 5 slot, as far as i know only AMD Mb dont, but great MB you looks nice

YOURE SO CLOSE TO 100K YOU CAN DO IT I BELIEVE IN YOU. ive been subbed since 60k i think. I aint gonna be one of those people that say "hey ive been aubbed when you nearly started your channel" as most people would say when a youtuber hits a huge miletone but honestly... i believe i was subbed since 60k ish i think. Also i love that white aethestic on that MSI motherboard as it would fit my white aesthetic room so well.

I did wonder why in one of your previous builds you said to put the drive in the top slot for fastest speeds but you didn't mention the additional feature unspecified in the contract that it can pinch half the PCI lanes from the GPU, you had a separate video up your sleeve, as far as I've seen your analysis of the effects on drive performance is a first so well done you.

just to clarify, so long as im using a gen 4 ssd in the top slot i still get 16 lanes for the gpu. is that correct? or do i need to leave the top slot empty for that?

I have this motherboard with a 14th gen i9. The bios shows a CPU speed of only 3.2 GHz. Why is that?

So even if im running a gen 4 drive in the m2_1 slot, its going to drop my gpu to 8 lanes? If so thats pretty weak, considering i can run five gen 4 drives and still get all 16 lanes for the gpu with my regular z790 edge.
Even more weak considering no gpu even uses pcie 5 yet, so you're just wasting away gen 5 lanes instead of utlizing all of the available cpu gen 4 lanes on z790.

I have a question. if I slot in an I-9 14900k and update the bios to run it will it allow me to use all 16 lanes with a gen 5 in the main slot and a gen 4 nvme ssd slotted in the second. or will it still cut it down to 8 lanes?
