64 GB Quest 2 owner here, no future Quest headsets should launch with 64 GB of storage, it is not longer enough. UNLESS there is an option to use a micro SD card to expand storage.

Also maybe the reason that they are considering dropping the quest 3 s with controllers being an optional accessory is to attract quest 2 owners by allowing them to pair their quest 2 controllers to a cheaper yet more powerful headset (probably even cheaper without controllers included)

I think they going to cut the support for quest 2 at the end of 2025 ( like how they did with quest1). 5 Years for a VR console like quest 2 is pretty good lifespan

Just now bought a $200 Quest 2 after demoing VR for 11 years dating back to the very first public Oculus Rift prototype model. Crazy to remember the original Oculus Rift dk1 prototype's 800p display with a screen door effect similar to Nintendo's 2019 LABO cardboard VR utilizing the Switch's 720p display. Sampling Rifts and Vives through the years as resolutions climbed, I'm super impressed with the Quest 2's 1920p resolution even 3 years after first demoing it, so much so that my 2017 PC can't really take full advantage of it as most games hover around the 1200p mark to maintain playable framerates.

I genuinely am satisfied enough that hundreds of games from the early days of VR all the way to today in 2024 are available on the Quest 2, but that's not even why I bought the set. My goal to enter VR was for wireless SteamVR; gaining access to even more titles than the Quest Store (including the killer app Half-Life Alyx as well as VR mods for the first two Half-Life games), taking advantage of Steam's ubiquitous deep discounts, and earning achievements in VR games as I would in most Steam games.


In fact, I'd like to hear from any Quest 1 owners who mainly use it for Quest Link and Air Link like owners of later headsets are now using Steam Link. Has PCVR given the Q1 a new lease on life this far into its successors' lifespans?

Fresnel lenses suck. I'm saving for the Quest 3. I haven't touched my Quest 2 in dayyyys.

Idgaf but also I'd be happy to see a direct upgrade to the quest 2 for people to snag up and get into VR. We need more ways to enter the VR space and I know a lot of people just don't have the $500 for a quest 3, and refuse to buy a slowly dying / discontinued product like the Quest 2 soon will be.

Well damn, I was quite excited that I ordered a quest 2 a few days ago, for 250€ + 150€ for various accessories (still waiting for it to arrive... damn third world country in Europe...).

Looking at these leaks now, and especially hearing you mention the differences in chipsets and the fact that Q2 might be getting pushed out of the market, makes me a bit sad.

I have a major issue with mr zuck absolutely hating my country, not officially shipping any of their VR products here, i'm brazilian by the way, so every quest headset that you can find here is always like at least 2-3x the original price. That being said, i own a quest 2 now, and would definetly like to buy a quest 3, currently running for arround 3x the original price on good sources here.

I only use the quest for gaming, and I pretty much just use it as a wireless PCVR device. Because of that, i kind of don't care about the quests processor. I would enjoy a version of the quest 3 that has the newer controller, lenses, fov, resolution and all that, but with like, 64gb, same processor as quest 2, and no need for augmented reality, because that would make it the most optimized possible for MY use case, and would make the lowest possible price, so when it got tripled be the second hand importing it would be more accessible stil.

But better yet, if zuck would just cut the crap and ship to my country, i would probably just buy the standard quest 3 instead of the lite version, as it would have everything i need, without having to worry about potentially having to buy controllers separately.

10/10 would NOT buy the Quest 3s. Already got my normal Quest 3 and I'm very happy with it. I think Meta should be focused more on improving the Quest 3 rather than making separate headsets to make the market more confusing. And they should really bring back the name "Oculus". (P.S. I hope you get your car working)

We were hearing rumors of a Quest 3 lite before those images showed up. They could be bullshit, but I bet you the Quest 3 lite is very real.

Honestly, for people that already own quest 2, quest 3s won't make it good upgrade path, UNLESS it would have pancake lenses due to alot of quest 2 users are pcvr gamers which at that point doesn't matter which cpu you use.
