This medieval manuscript is insane. The penmanship is immaculate through out and consistent showing no tiring or strain while writing it at any point. Not to mention the theme, size, and nature of this item is shrouded in mystery and legend. It's the largest known medieval manuscript in human history.

The cool (and somewhat creepy) thing about the book is that there's absolutely no mistakes in the handwriting. Every letter is impeccable, and not a single sign of an error.

I work at the National library in Sweden, we have it in a special room, and Codex Gigas with the page with the famous Devil depiction open can be viewed by anyone (i.e. when the pandemic is over)

What's crazy is, thinking that the monastery blindly took this book from him and did not question how it was completed in 24 hrs, and/or accuse him of consorting with the supernatural when seeing the size of it.

Calling it an evil book was probably just a way to really sell the book, considering it worked as it ended up in the possession of a Holy Roman emperor. This book's reputation mirror's the reverence of Holy Spear Tip of Longinus. Which you should totally talk about at some point, perhaps for Easter. That object walked and talked more than money!

A single monk would need the backing of some benefactor to complete such an undertaking. Think of the work that just went into producing the pages alone. 160 animals to be slaughtered, skinned and prepared. Everything had a cost, ink, bindings etc. Book binding was a craft in itself. Fascinating.

Dude, I have seen a lot, and I mean a lot of videos about this book, and yours is by far the most engaging and well written work about this subject, simple, concise and entertaining.

My thoughts are that this man was a hermit who spent his life working on this book only to have it stolen by some shady monastery and monks who then accused this man of working with the devil so no one would hear his cry for justice for having his book stolen which clearly seems to be a book mixed with knowledge on the forces of dark and light, health and sickness, satan and heaven as much of the medieval age was. This seems most likely to me and I'm even a Christian who believes in the supernatural but I'm also not credulous or superstitious. either

I know a story about this it goes....
Necronomicon ex Mortis,  The Book of the Dead. Bound in human flesh and inked in blood, this ancient Sumerian text contained bizarre burial rites, funerary incantations and demon resurrection passages. It was never meant for the world of the living. The book awoke something dark in the woods. It took Linda, and then it came for me. It got into my hand and it went bad, so I lopped it off at the wrist. But that didn't stop it, it came back. Big time.

I wonder if Genndy Tartakovsky knew of the Codex Gigas before creating the Aku character in Samurai Jack...

I'm really and extremely surprised that the Vatican hasn't taken this by force!

The deal was the Devil would only get the of the Monk if he "finished the book" What if Herman himself reomved the missing ten pages and destroyed the since technically without the missing pages the book isn't finshed

The images, wow. If you turn the pic of the Devil 180°, it looks strikingly like a Stag Beetle.
