"I was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) in September 2017. I knew I wasn’t feeling very well, but the idea that I had leukaemia was very scary."

12-year-old Olivia Baggott had been complaining of symptoms such as back and joint pain, but subsequent GP visits resulted in a range of misdiagnoses, from juvenile artheritis to Lyme disease.

Now in remission, Olivia and her mum Jane have shared Olivia's leukaemia journey in this video.

I am a survivor of AML spent 29 days in hospital.i have been in remission now 12 years

That's how it was with my sister. She'd had a cold a few months before and was always tired. We finally got her to the ER and they did a blood test showing she was anemic. After guessing what was wrong with her they finally did a bone marrow test showing she had AML. She passed away a few weeks later. It was awful.

I am literally surprised how little GPs know, how often the miss key symptoms or how little they are able to pick up. Why not order CBC with differential and see what is going on? follow up? A young person with no pmh suddenly develops pain in bones, feels unwell, becomes diaphoretic, loses weight. I mean
