Cupid is interesting because of how greatly the visuals contrast from each other frame by frame. When the video begins, Jack looks happy and dopey, like he's in love. When we begin to see inside his head, we see his internal conflict over being in love. He doesn't want to be in love; from the lyrics, we're shown that he sees love as irrational, hence calling it vapid and aimless. He says he wants closure. In the final line of that verse, he says he wants to take the bus back home, then he says "you'll wanna ride the bus alone" in the next verse's last line. He's telling himself love is stupid and he needs to be more rational, so he tries to distance himself from the concept of it and the person he is in love with.
