If you have any questions about the process, machines i'm using or other stuff, just ask me in the comments. I read them all and i try to reply as soon as possible.

Sorry for my bad english, it's not my language. I try my best to improve my technical english.

Subscribe for more of my content. I'm uploading videos about mechanical stuff, as new creations and buildings and also restorations.

Thank you for watching :-)

Would love to see more of these basics for us beginners!

I'm a retired machinist. I never threw a file away until it was about a 1/2" long. I'd grind down the tip to a knifes edge and use them for deburring. I also never used a new wood handle unless mine were broken. I'd use the old handle and put a few toothpicks or pieces of wood sticks in the hole if it was too big, then I'd add a bit of glue and hammer them down on the shank of the drill. Worked like a charm.

It is truly wonderful to hear your voice as you explain the process so well. You speak better English than most Americans. Much respect from Florida USA.

I really appreciate the attention you are giving to the safety measures. Especially for the not so experienced workers. Thank you for that.

Btw, watching your videos inspired me to restore some things. So far, I've done two old metal window fans - all refurbished save for wiring and, an outdoor table. We got to start somewhere...

Nice, didn't know the burning makes a strong bond. Thanks for sharing.

Takes me right back to metalwork class in school. I remember having to do this with a trowel that I made :)

Thanks for all these videos. Recently I used some of the knowledge I have gathered from your videos in restoring some rusty screws from our car battery terminal. The screws were so tight and rusted that I had to use WD40 multiple times to loosen them. I soaked the rusted screws and bolts in rust remover. Used steel wire brush to remove all the rust. Heated them and soaked in linseed oil to prevent further rusting. Applied a little WD40 to lubricate the thread. They were as good as new!

Dude, this is amazing! So much knowledge in such a short video.
Best regards!

Simple and didn't I think of it, much better than drilling out.

That was interesting. I can understand how burning it into the handle would make a strong bond. As I've mentioned before, I don't have any experience when it comes to mechanics. I enjoy watching your videos and learning new things.

Whoa, this is great! Now I can give all my files handles made from the branches I've been saving/drying!

I've used this approach before - but I always wondered: "Is this actually the right method? What if I'm ruing the heat treatment or something...". Now I can rest easy knowing that it's good enough for my mechanics and must therefore be nothing to worry about.

It's so weird but so cool to hear you talking about your work. I respect the hell out of you, man

I always mix an epoxy and a wood dust, and then put it in an old hole to seal it completely.
Then the next day I drill a new hole in that and insert a file in it, and all is solid as it used to be.
Also, if the file is bad at the top, or even in the middle, you can cut that part out and have a smaller file that can also be used in some special situations.
I had a file that was damaged at the bottom and in the middle section, and I made a small file from a top part that was in a mint condition.

It's this kind of stuff (that extra amount of effort beyond what everybody else does) that makes me love your content. Keep up the good work!
