And some bears come out and maul 42 of the boys.
What the heck is going on?
This story is about is the denial of Elisha as a true prophet of Yahweh.
Even though Elisha just inherited a double portion from Elijah
It happened in Bethel - which is an extremely significant place in the Bible.
the place where Abram or Abraham, first pitched his tent and built an altar and called upon the name of the Lord.
It’s also the place where Jacob’s dream of a ladder to heaven took place.
When he awoke he said, “how awesome is this place!”
Bethel means ‘house of God.’
But 42 boys are mauled by a bear?!
The Hebrew term we translate as “boys” literally applies to an unmarried male who has not become the head of his household.
For example, The same term is used to describe David when he defeated Goliath.
He wasn’t a little boy or toddler.
So these were most likely young unmarried men.
Being called a baldy was in contrast to Elijah being described as hairy.
It challenged Elisha’s authority given by God.
2 bears is related to the two curses they called out “baldy baldy!”
The curse correlates with the punishment.
42 is also a number specifically related to blessings and curses…and in this case it’s the latter.

The Bible is more Complex in nature and symbolic than we think, truly it is out of this world.

Reminds me of the two Witnesses for 42 months calling down plagues and fire on unbelievers during the Great Tribulation.

Amazing. I think it’s pretty cool that 42 is 3x14, and YHWH gives His Name to Moses on Exodus 3:14.
The coordinates of Israel also begin with 314, and the same land where YHWH said He would put His Name there.

Next time my kids make fun of me for being bald, I will remind them of this 😂

Nice work!! I would, however, point to Michael Heiser's scholarly research. It goes even deeper than this.

Keep up the fabulous work!

@Kingdomstoryfilms
I'm glad you are getting 'inspiration', , however, will you respond to the conversations prior concerning your video and question of why the LORD has written His laws on the heart?

Even if it were an “unmarried man”, even though translations say otherwise, this doesn’t make this good. This makes your god look evil, pathetic, and petty. How is sending bears to rip someone to pieces reasonable for mocking someone??

You’re also missing some important context and elements of Hebrew culture. Elisha was bald because he was morning Elijah. In and they were mocking Elisha in his time of morning. People interpret this has little kids called a bald guy bald and the bald guy got mad and cursed them and sent bears to kill them but that’s not exactly the story. These were kind of like banger types running around causing trouble and doing evil things that were mocking him as he was morning, the passing of Elijah. Other symbolism aside he wasn’t just some triggered old man who was angry at kids because they called him bald, and Hebrew culture that was a pretty extreme insult. It was like running up to somebody to say I’m glad your friend died and harassing them.

So it's okay for God to condemn young men to brutal death for the most minor of social offenses as long as it's really symbolic? And you worship this God? What kind of psychopath are you?

Well i wasn't convinced by Christianity, it all seems far fetched, but seeing as God is pro baldy and anti children, I'm now a believer. Praise the Lord!

Yeah, you shouldn’t be using the Hebrew if you don’t know it.
