So yes, this is another episode on how to thrive on a low fat, whole food, plant-based diet.
___________
If you're one who constantly asks Google what the optimal diet is and how to stay healthy, you've probably heard about 'macro counting'. As the term suggests, it's counting your macros or macronutrients. They are protein, fats and carbohydrates -- different food sources with different effects on the human body. Carbohydrates are the body's main source of energy; they are essential for the brain and nervous system, as well as other bodily functions. Meanwhile, protein is what the body uses to build and repair muscle, tissues, skin, blood cells, etc. Finally, fats are what the body uses to produce hormones, cell membranes and absorb fat-soluble vitamins.

The 'macro counting' approach in choosing a diet is popular because it allows people to eat until they are full as long as they maintain a target balance of the macros.

But if you want to eat the healthiest nutrition that keeps you healthy not just outside but also inside. . . Where do you source your carbs, protein and fat? And why in the world are carbohydrates often misunderstood and vilified? Well, on this episode, Robby and Cyrus will bring carbs to victory.

I feel better on high carb diet. I feel like total garbage on low carb. I love all kinds of vegetable soups. Carbs make me able to use the bathroom regularly and make my stomach feel good. More mental clarity.

Mate, I've got NAFLD and all you see are channels of people saying eating low carb and high fat is the way to heal.
I have been watching durianrider and he says what you are saying, so I will go with high carb.
My hobbies is cycling, that's hard on keto.
Thanks

A carbohydrate based diet mainly from real whole foods works best for me.

It’s true, when you look at the healthy populations they eat mostly carbs especially starchy carbs followed by smaller portions of meats and fats.

I was diagnosed prediabetic entering full type2 diabetes. So i decided to go keto for a month. The glucose spikes ended every day i went off sugars, but i was surpised to see that my morning glucose levels were always around 110 which was not what i was looking for.
After that month of keto trial i decided to give a go to these two guys approach, thou contra-intuitive. Now i eat much much less animal protein, and mostly i eat legumes, veggies, fruit and whole carbs, thou not much of the last. Now my morning glucose levels are always bellow 100 (most of the time 90), even if i had sushi the previous dinner. And thou my blood glucose is still too high two hours after a meal with whole or simple carbs, it is not as high as when i was on keto diet and had the same kind of meal.
Important to say i do the 16/8 intermintent fast both in keto and now, and that i never took any drug to deal with diabetes.
Anyway, for a complete diabetes remission i guess i’ll have to go for the OMAD protocol.

Thank you for sharing the truth concerning high carb eating and diabetes. I actually reversed my A1C of 8.7 to 5.4 by eating 100% fruit for only 30-days. I also lost 36 pounds.

I just started reading Mastering Diabetes. I'm only reading a few pages at a time. So far, I'm eating about 80 percent carbohydrate. Less than ten percent fat and a little more than ten percent protein. I'm eating a lot of fruit, raw vegetables and lightly cooked ones. I have unsweetened cereal with fruit for breakfast. I have beans and grains with my vegetables with my lunch and dinner.

I am almost 70, and very active. I eat a minimum of 3 but usually 4 pounds of potatoes every single day, and I continue to lose weight. Down 100+ so far.

I want to believe that, but when I eat a bunch of fruit, and steel cut oats, I'm really tired after an hour... especially in the morning

This is the exact opposite of everything Dr Baker and Dr Ken Berry teach ! It’s just so confusing who to listen to and which way to turn with diet !!!!

I have been dealing with metabolic syndrome for 20 years. At first I followed my doctor's recommendations, took the medications he prescribed for me and ate primarily whole food plant based diet with plenty of whole grains, legumes leafy greens, nuts, etc... I was eating very little meat and fat. Over the years I was unable to get my blood glucose and insulin resistance fully under control. There was some improvement, but not where I wanted to be. I felt it was a good day when my glucose tested under 200, and I could never get my A1C below 7. This despite all the different medications my doctor tried. It was just within the past couple years that I learned about the ketogenic diet and decided to try it. I lost belly fat and my fasting glucose dropped to on average around 100. I quickly learned that saturated fat was not a good option for me, and I instead use mono and poly unsaturated fats, such as olive oil, avocado oil and fish oil. Also macadamia nuts are great. I keep my carbs very low and eat a lot of fiber. I finally got my A1C below 6 and I am off all medications.

I am trying really hard to follow this diet, BUT, i tend to say hungry all the time. And a strange mental thing that has occurred for me is I tend to be depressed and anxious more on this diet. I don’t know why. I didn’t expect that. :(

A food with carbohydrates can still be calorie dense even if it’s not refined. A whole grain piece of bread (not refined) will have more fiber than one which isn’t whole grain (refined), but can still most definitely be calorie dense.

So I am a type two diabetic with stage three kidney disease. I haven’t been able to get my blood sugar under control for years. I have been on and off the keto diet many times. I am worried about your diet because of the likelihood of ketoacidosis, from eating all of those carbs that you talk about. Also, where is this list that Robbie spoke of in his one video about high carbohydrate fruits that can actually decrease insulin resistance?

Hello! I’m confused when it comes to one thing regarding low fat diet..what about omega fatty acids?? If I’m on a low fat diet how can I make sure that I don’t go deficient. Also can you recommend a supplement for me to take please. I need to know exactly how much to take.
