This would be super cool to do but it is super illegal. I heard a story about a guy who got in trouble with the parks service for camping a few hundred feet outside the official camping area and he only ended up having to pay like $1k but could have been fined up to $5k and gone to jail for at least a year if not more and been banned from national parks. Pretty serious and totally not worth it man

It’s fenced off because you can cause damage to the root system. Before winter I was cutting all the dead trees around the giant sequoias near South Gate. Wouldn’t recommend any camping in the old growths, not wise folks could lead to potential charges there’s designated camp sites for a reason 🌲 #leave no trash behind folks! 🖖

If you guys do not know this tree is called the “General sherman” The tree with the largest trunck on the face of the earth and there Was a wild fire not to long ago but due to the help of locals the tree managed to survive and maintain its great form!
