The amount of advancement from the 1960’s and 70’s to now is just really amazing. I wonder In another 50 years will our current gen systems be just as primitive compared from a Atari to ps5?

Well I’ll be 84 by then and here’s hoping im around and sharp enough to appreciate and experience it.

It's amazing how far the technology has progressed in the last 10 years but seems such a short time compared to the early days of gaming.

I remember going to my grandparents house and seeing (and after which receiving) both a Fairchild Channel F and an original Atari 2600 (with intact games for both). Note: I still have them to this day in near purchase day condition.

History of Videogame consoles/handheld systems that I used to have and/or still have it (1995-present):

1. Sega Genesis (Released: 1988) (This was the very first videogame console that my young brother and I used to have back in August 1995, while we played Sonic the Hedgehog at that time)

2. Sony PlayStation (Released: 1994 (JP), and 1995 (US)) (This is the second videogame console that my young brother and I had back in late 1997 when we played our very first PlayStation videogame, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back)

3. Nintendo Game Boy Color (Released: 1998) (This was the very first handheld system that we had and alongside with it. Our very first anime videogame(s) that we played during our childhood years was Pokémon Red and Blue versions (they both came out for the original Game Boy back in February 27, 1996 until they released Pokémon Yellow version in 1998/'99 for the Nintendo Game Boy Color) on the Nintendo Game Boy Color.

4. Sony PlayStation 2 (Released: 2000) (Got it from early 2002)

5. Microsoft Xbox (Released: 2001) (Got it from late 2002; until the disc tray got broken/snap in half)

6. Nintendo Wii (Released: 2006) (Got it from late 2007)

7. Microsoft Xbox 360 (Released: 2006) (Got it from early 2009)

8. Sony PlayStation 4 (Released: 2013) (Got it from early 2015)

9. Nintendo Switch (Released: 2017) (Recently got it this year in 2021 during the summer)

10. Nintendo Game Boy Advance (Released: 2001) (Got it somewhere from that year)

11. Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP (Released: 2003) (Got it somewhere from that year)

12. Nintendo DS (Released: 2006) (My younger sister got it in August 2007, alongside with Pokémon Diamond)

13. Nintendo DSi Lite (Released: 2009)

14. Nintendo 3DS (Released: 2011) (Got it from early 2018)

Saludos cordiales!

Just looking at all of the other consoles, it’s utterly insane how Sony released the PlayStation as their first ever console, but was so successful. They also made so many cosmetic, and technological leaps. For example, the DualShock controllers, so stylish, and functional. It’s also cool how Sony stuck with the DualShock design for all of their consoles.

It is amazing to see what 9 generations of video game consoles has evolved. I wonder how the industry will continue to evolve? Today it has gotten so big players have turned into professional and esports was born in the process. It is amazing video games make more money then the movie industry today.
