In this video, Senior Analytics Consultant Brian Grant gives an introduction to the Elements of DAX. Brian talks about learning DAX at a high-level and the pitfalls that most folks encounter. He also introduces Elements, which are like DAX's parts of speech, as well as the Patterns that help you practice putting Elements together in common ways.

Hi Brian, I don't think it has been done like this. Some sort of do it, by showing tables and table result, but NONE in the visual structure you provide, with a clearer understanding of filter context, context transition or row context as you call it, the visual temp tables, the eXp column and then the function on the eXp column. Amazing. This is gold. I have been part of the community for 1.5 years, and this is the best I have come across. Avi Singh books, Guy in a cube, Enterprise DNA, Curbal, Marco and Alberto, Mike Carlo and Seth Bauer. Those guys are all great and add so much to the community, but this course is unique. Congratulations. Long live long form DAX :)

This is the best video series of DAX I came across since I had started DAX. I was always struggling with DAX concepts. I strongly recommend these tutorials to anyone who is struggling with DAX concepts. Thanks Brain

Hi Brian, I have not enough "thanks" to say to you! I have gone through a number of tutorials - some were good. Most of them teach you the language in
a way toddlers would learn it - naturally - from hearing, watching, and repeating. For grown-ups to learn a language, one needs a framework, a structure, a
methodology! If adults can’t envision a structure, the elements stay fragmented and are difficult to piece together - as if you have learned vocabulary, but don't know how to put words together, because you don't know grammar. Thanks for introducing and explaining the grammar! I am saying this as a former practicing teacher who taught a foreign language.
