Sometimes an important idea is worth seeing a couple times. In this video Brian Grant will walk you through a couple more examples of Current Row Filtering, but more importantly he will demonstrate the similarities of Measures and the CALCULATE() function. We will also see what happens mechanically when Filter Revision is needed in a formula but is not used. It's so very easy to forget about Current Row Filtering when you're new and this video should help cement these important ideas.

Brian is obviously aware of the mechanism for forming stable skills - multiple repetitions (e.g., to remember a foreign word 30 repetitions required in different contexts). He is explaining the same concepts from different perspectives. He goes through the same routine again and again without skipping a single step, without assuming that viewers understand and remember from previous examples. Brilliant teaching.

This is by far the best DAX study I have taken. Thank you Brian for your excellent approach to teaching a difficult subject. When can your "groupies" expect #46?

Brian is the spreadsheet used in the example publically available?

Great tutorial Brian! Just wondering if you are going to explain what will happen if there is existing filter context? For example how it will work when you grab this measure into a pivot table where the Shift or Dish is in rows.
