I leave bowls of water, which I refresh twice daily, around my apartment, and two bowls of dry food (they eat in different spots) if I know I am going to be away longer than 8 hours because of work. I take public transit. I work lots of overtime. But, for the most part, my cats have adapted. Whether regular time or later time, they are always at the door to greet me and I make sure I give them love and hugs and speak to them with a quiet voice so they know that all is well.

Good advice. One point about water when you're away: if you can't afford a cat fountain, then leave a spigot in an accessible sink dripping into a bowl. Set it to just a slow drip and fill the bowl part way. Also be sure the sink drain is open and can take the overflow. It does waste some water, but it will ensure that your cat has water the entire time you're away.

We always have the same sitter come to care for our little guy when we're away. She sometimes comes just to visit and our happy dude runs to her every time.

2:30 The white feeder shown here does not dispense food at a specified time. Your cat wears a signal device on her collar, and when she pokes her head under the "handle" the food is automatically uncovered--you see the cover folded up and out of the way in the video. When she leaves, the cover closes again. This protects her food from other pets (or from children!). My neighbor got one for cat A, who was losing weight because her food was constantly being eaten by cat B, who was getting fat. Worked like a charm but then cat A gained weight and cat B lost weight. My neighbor got cat B a dispenser, and now both cats are happier and healthier, each with her own food kept safe from the other. Now there's a *lot* less stress for both cats, too.

My cats/kittens are on a complete routine. Eating, sleeping. I leave toodler cartoons on for them when I leave. I truly think they enjoy it. Mine have 2 water fountains. We have 2 cats, 4 kittens. That wasnt the plan but my daughter found the first kitten in the wall of an abandoned home and we got her fixed the same day we moved due to her being in heat, trying to get out and 2 weeks later my daughter found a litter of 4 abandoned kittens under the shed of our new home.

I'm just NOT going to be away from my babies more than a few hours at a time- and that RARELY. I"m retired- hate to travel and don't socialize- so I'll keep my babies happy til they CARRY ME out of here.. Then my SIS has PROMISED to take them and love them..

I always kept a small radio on the classic music channel when I was away everyday at work or when I went on a trip.
A medium to low volume is perfect, as you don't want it blasting just want some ambient background music.
This keeps from pets having to be in a totally silent environment.

My cat is 2 yrs and doesn't play with any toys.. She will watch a toy that's on a string but won't play with it.. I've gotten her 2
different scratching post and she wouldn't use it.. She doesn't care for cat nip either.. She does love looking out of the glass doors into my back yard at the birds and squirrels a lot.. I also have my love seat where the doors are so if she is laying on the back of my sofa, she can look out the door, fall asleep and look out when she wakes and this is how she spends her day.. When I leave the house, I leave the TV on so she can hear noise..

My 3 babies have come to LOVE the SQUEEZE UP SOFT treats.. and I ran out yesterday- have MORE coming tomorrow-- and was NOT about to drive 30 miles each way in cold weather and hurt (my bad truck accident a few years back causes me pain 24/7 and it's MUCH worse when I'm out in cold wet weather- like now).. just to get some when they can wait a day. Won't hurt them.. One is really sad though- sitting here STARING at me or whining... :) (he has the pitiful look and sound down to a fine art).. :)

MINE are FINALLY beginning to use the wood pellets box.. (much BETTER for all of us-- I have an fake eye now- and it is lubricated with silocn- and the dust from changing the litter box gets in it and HURTS-- and it's not good for any of us to breathe. The wood has NO dust- and they're finaly starting to use it). As to water-- I put a FOUNTAIN that is constantly running- filtering and cool- not cold, in my office and they LOVE it..

My cats have a water fountain ⛲, I also keep a little bowl in one of the bathroom sinks. My cats also insist on drinking out of the toilet. I live alone, with 3 cats. I have 2.5 bathrooms, so 3 toilets. One belongs to the cats. It gets bleached, and no one is allowed to use it. I flush the cats' porcelain water bowl at least once a day, usually twice.
I am on disability, and am home 6 days a week. One day a week is reserved for Dr appointments, & grocery shopping. My cats are fed 4 times a day, one meal is a wet food, or raw meat. I would have to have a cat sitter to keep my cats on their feeding schedule.

Cat tv is great for younger cats. I leave it on at night for older kittens to keep them occupied so they stay out of trouble for the most part.

Hi. My cat lives with me and my mum. I was mum’s carer. But mum passed away. She’s really pining for her. They were very close. They loved each other very deeply.

She is eating and drinking normally but She’s wandering around the house looking for her meowing more than usual. I’m giving her extra attention, she’s got a blanket of mum’s that has her scent on it which when she’s not on my lap she’s ok that. It’s been hard enough losing mum, and I’m really feeling lost without her. but I’m very worried about my cat. I can’t lose her too.

Is there anything I can do to help my cat though her grief of losing her Nanny. Any advice will be very appreciated

❤❤By what you say to us in this video I can say you do know cats very well and want us all to do normal care about cats. I wish no cat goes hungry. Plus that all cats get enough of cuddling and that they don't feel left out for it is so beneficial for their emotional development. Do you have your own cats or kittens?

I don't know a lot of people think it's OK to leave a cat alone for days I don't know how that started .... that's a very big myth as you point out
