Food being 13% of sales is huge considering how much their regular products cost.

IKEA has such a low overhead for the sale of their hot food. Prior to the pandemic on Tuesdays kids ate for free during the summer. To help communities where they reside. What a wonderful gift for those families experiencing food insecurities.

Back when I was a kid in the 1960s, quite a few department stores had a cafe in the store. Heck! The New Orleans grocery chain, Schwegmanns, had a BAR in their store near my house! 😂 I think that was built around 1974 or 75.

I knew IKEA had their famous food court in the store but I didn’t know their prices were so cheap! I wonder what an IKEA diet would look like 🤔

Here in Germany the Netherlands main meals at IKEA have gotten expensive. I assume a profit intention behind it. As 10€ for a hamburger cannot not make a profit.
The hotdogs are around a euro those might not make a significant profit. I still eat there for nostalgia reason when I shop from time to time

🎉 My opinion about IKEA in Portland Oregon is that over time the food is kind of falling a little off. It also depends on who is serving if you go off enough you know which of the ladies to actually ask for help

best thing going is their food specials. on monday and friday the food is half price. Tuesday kids eat free! i can feed the whole family for less than $20 on half price day....and no tip required!

If ikea wasn't out of the way, I'd be there more often for that cheap and yummy food. 😋

You should check out the Ikea food court at it's new location is downtown San Francisco. If you thought the meatballs where great, their whole international food court will blow your mind! The Sichuan spicy pork noodles is one of my favorites and I eat there almost weekly!

Mark whenever I went to Ikea with my mother she always wanted to go to the cafeteria. I had gone to Ikea for years and never went to the cafeteria but she always wanted to go.

Make the customer comfortable by not having to leave for eats, no food pricing shocks and fair selection. You got a happy customer willing to spend. 😮

You forget to say that the dining area and all the dishes are products you can find in the store. Which makes that place another show room.

I used to love the IKEA cafeteria then they made a rule that for the plates you only got what was described for the entree. No substitutions. Meatballs come with potatoes and peas. You can’t get a lovely broccoli croquet instead of potatoes. Last time I went to their cafeteria. There is a decent deli near the store. I’ll do that instead.

I see my prior statement about Ikea's meatballs drawing in the older crowd bore fruit! 😉😉🤣🤣

Low cost = why they ended up finding horse meat in the meatballs. That's not a joke, it actually happened
