In this new chapter, the film focuses on Kate Cooper (played by Daisy Edgar-Jones), a former storm chaser who has trauma from a devastating tornado encounter during her college years. Now, Kate studies natural disasters on computers in New York. However, her friend Javi (played by Anthony Ramos) encourages her to return to the open plains to test a new tracking system. As a whole new wave of tornadoes threatens, Kate finds herself drawn back into the storm, facing both personal and environmental challenges12.

“Twisters” is a standalone sequel to the 1996 film “Twister,” directed by Lee Isaac Chung and produced by Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley. The movie incorporates climate change into its plot, highlighting the effects of climate change on extreme weather events like tornadoes34. The film is scheduled to be released by Universal Pictures in North America and Warner Bros. Pictures internationally on July 19.
