Mum-of-two Carla Bramall began showing the symptoms of dementia at just 30-years-old, and she was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s at just 36. Now 39, Carla is bedbound in a care home, unable to recognise her family or even speak or move her head. Carla’s mum Rita Pepper and brother Lee Bramall have decided to speak out about their family’s experience.

Hi I am Stu from Birmingham, I am a musician who will be staging a live event in aid of Alzheimer's UK, Until now I had never had experienced dementia for myself, only ever heard of it and was unaware of the severity up till I went to visit my Grandmother over Christmas last year, It was heart wrenching seeing somebody I have always been close to suffer in such a way!, She will be 91 this coming May and I am petrified, But It is even more shocking to learn that Dementia is by no means exclusive to the elderly, I am so sorry about Carla and I am sensitive to your pain, I ask if both Lee and Rita would be willing to get in touch so I can offer support and comfort.

It's bad enough to endure this at then end of a long life. Both my grandmothers have it, one already passed... my grandfathers on the other hand, sharp as tracks. I CANNOT imagine this happening to someone so young.

I became a father at age 39. Scary to think about her getting it at 30!

I'm worried about my mom who is 65 and gets memories confused or forgets things often. I bought her a plant for Mother's day and planted it in the yard. I wrote her a detailed note about it and how this plant would survive when last years failed, because I changed some variables. A couple days later, we were talking outside and I mentioned how well it was doing. She said that she had gotten a larger one this time to see if that worked better than the last one. She totally forgot I had gotten it for her. Also, I have noted how she is acting more like a teenager and seems to have lost a lot of maturity lately, believing in silly things that she reads online. She is also being strangely emotionally manipulative and insecure about her relationship with me vs my relationship with my spouse. have caught her in lies and she trys to manipulate like a teenager or younger girl might in order to not get in trouble or strain the relationship. Like, she wont back down and puts on a poker face that's manipulative. I've seen this face before, but never on a mature adult. I appreciate this video, because I know I need to spend more time with her and treat her extra special if that's the case.

Feel for the family. The brother Lee, seems to suffer from that which some war veterans feel - survivor guilt. Wish them all the best.

Carl's children now have a 50% chance of having Early-onset Alzheimers as well. Just an awful disease.

Hopefully she’s in a better place now and not in *an empty bliss beyond this world.*

Okay I’m sorry about that one.
