"While the early hours are a bit rough, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is one of those soulslikes that only gets better as you get further in, unlocking more of the interesting skills that allow you to fully take advantage of its attack chains and XP multipliers. However, you’ll need to want to head off the beaten path to hunt down its optional extras in order to get the most out of it. Thankfully, Flintlock respects your time while doing so with its use of shortcuts, fast travel, and other ways of making exploring fun and easy. It may have an abridged run time compared to other RPGs, but it makes good use of that time with interesting sidequests and an excellent minigame. Unfortunately, Flintlock’s story meanders a bit towards the middle and wastes a few opportunities that could have let its main characters shine, but this adventure did leave me interested to find out where Nor and Enki will go next."

The fact that the hack and slash / character action genre (DMC, Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising) died just so we can get 7 Souls games a year that all look identical and play the same is seriously annoying.

Seems odd to complain about a 'lack of exposition to make me care about the story' when we're all playing and loving Elden Ring DLC without a bloody clue what's going on!

The games terrible, the dodge has a weird delay, so does the just and parry. The combat does not feel as smooth as it looks and jumping and mantling feels dreadful.

Honestly, the combat looks fun and a less meandering RPG is very valuable to a person no time. For an indie/AA studio, this looks great

The only thing that is getting me pissed off is that she can’t even put her weapon away and she just gonna be walking around with that the whole entire entire game and never put it down or her inventory

There is no modern audience, only modern developers. Modern developers have deep seeded issues. Instead of going to therapy, they want to fix everyone else instead of fixing themselves. And what do they usually say? "If you don't like it, don't buy it!" And now we are getting layoffs and studio closures damn near every week, except for Nintendo and Capcom who stay in their bubble and make games for their actual customers.
