Oh man, I just finished today's run before I saw this. Tomorrow though, I will be the aero drummer chicken on the trail (I hope I see others out there doing it too). Thanks for the tips as always.

I worked with this this year, think my arms are better. It works. When you change your arms your body position also changes to the better.
Without use more energy you run faster.

I actually run with drumsticks on the treadmill from time to time, making music on boring winter sessions

Your clip made me laugh... love it! Trying out the aero-chicken-drummer technique gives me more control over my upper body. I don't see your shoulders swinging with the arms' movement, and I know I need to keep them relaxed. Do I just mentally tell them to drop (relax) all the way?

I think the hardest thing to come to terms with us that you will simply need to confirm your ability to persevere. And unfortunately if you're starting from ground zero for fitness a particularly high body weight... No matter what tips you take in you will simply need to increase fitness until your body is able to take on the actions the way you imagine them.

If you're healthy young and active this might take a couple of weeks but if you're getting close to middle age and have been sedentary for 23 years... It may take 3 years of solid consistency.

If you spend a long time getting out of shape it's going to take a long time to get back into shape.

I really like this tip though I think if you are in shape from other sports and want to take endurance running on this method is top advice

2) hip rotation (generally comes instinctually with fitness level)

The elbow thing is bs. You can see this clearly with elite marathon runners doing all sorts of funky arm movements. Why don’t you go do some Aero-Chicken McLaren wind tunnel testing 😅
The drumming on the other hand is very good advice. I picked it up earlier this year and it has changed my stride and focus. Wish I knew this years ago.

Works fine along the fire roads, but on the technical descents I was drumming like Animal!

Your leaning a little far forward... remember, string attached to the top of your head, shoulders etc and so forth.... practice what you preach.... you also sounded a bit out of breath when you started the vid.... form?
