I just finished the Mistborn trilogy and I really enjoyed Sanderson’s writing. My only issue is he uses the word ‘regardless’ in excess. Regardless, I enjoyed the story! 😉

I feel pretty similarly to you about The Queen of Nothing. Didn’t end how I was expecting. I liked it but it didn’t amaze me. I’m looking forward to you series review and spoilers chat.

Interesting what you said about rereading Way of Kings, I read it for the first time in Sept (then Words of Radiance in Nov, now Oathbringer for Dec) and I love all the detail, this time around I'm having to take notes and figure it all out, putting the puzzle pieces together, learn it all and try to remember everything. I was anticipating a reread as being more of a smooth, fun ride, without having to worry about learning it all for the first time, and just enjoy all the details. Will be interesting to find out how i do experience it on a re-read.

Sky in the Deep is one of my favorites, and has way more of a Viking feel to it, so I think you should definitely put that on your to read list!

Sounds like you had a great November reading wise Elliot. I didn't read any books in November cuz i had to work on projects & family time. I will get back into it soon. I have my eye WhisperRed ASMR book. She's a great friend of mine & i want to support her on spreading the word about how great asmr is. I do wanna read more mangas tho. I might start trying visial novels where you see art pictures of what's being read to you vocally. DC Comics & Marvel has some great ones out. Anywho, i hope this month you get a lot of fun books this month ♥️

I finished Words of Radiance, but my book store didn't have Oathbringer so I needed to order it online. I'm dying waiting for it to arrive, I need it now!

I read and reread the Witcher in russian and then I tried english translation. It's really much better in russian as it's closer to what Sapkowski was trying to say. His writing is actually phenomenal and you want to keep reading even when he follows those characters that have almost zero impact on the plot :'D




Also, I've only just started Way of Kings, and those first two or three chapters were real struggle.

Yeah i was congused about what you had said about the second mistborn series because i enjoyed it (thus far). Reading book 2 of kings and i feel the world detail is much more fleshed out than Sanderson usually writes.

Oh noo, it sucks about the ending of The Bird and the Blade! I can't think of books that I've had that issue for me, but I can certainly think of video games. Namely, the first Drakan game, haha!
P.S. I immediately knew which opera it was based on (didn't know it was a retelling of it) from the subject. It's fun to have a classically-inclined dad sometimes.

The problem I think people have with the ending to First Law is that experienced fantasy readers go in expecting a wrapped up trilogy. It isn’t, that macro-plot that is redefined at the end of the OT (which is why I love the ending) continues through the standalones and the new trilogy. The standalones are the best imo, so I hope you continue. But for the overall plot, I wouldn’t expect, and hope there isn’t, a tidy conclusion anytime soon.
