Imagine stepping into a world where the weight of shame from past trauma transforms into a newfound sense of wholeness and self-acceptance. A world where you walk hand in hand with your past, no longer held back by feelings of unworthiness and self-blame.

In this teaching, Unpacking the Circle of Shame, renowned therapists Dr. Gabor Maté and Dr. Richard C. Schwartz guide us towards healing with compassion. Here, they unveil the pathway forward by showing us how to enter our inner world and to lovingly care for the pain and inner struggles that haunt us.

Sounds True was founded in 1985 by Tami Simon with a clear mission: to disseminate spiritual wisdom. Since starting out as a project with one woman and her tape recorder, we have grown into a multimedia publishing company with more than 80 employees, a library of more than 1500 titles featuring some of the leading teachers and visionaries of our time, and an ever-expanding family of customers from across the world. In more than three decades of growth, change, and evolution, Sounds True has maintained its focus on its overriding purpose, as summed up in our Mission Statement.

I always wondered whether Dr. Gabor Maté knows about IFS and Dr. Richard C. Schwartz
this video answers my question.
I tried CBT for Social anxiety for 20 years and I was left with social anxiety, fawning and people pleasing and toxic shame. IT did not help.
IFS Model helps and Dr Gabor Mate, too.

I found Richard Scwartz through a friend/therapist and immediately saw how it related to Gabor Mate's work. So here I am listening to both of these beautiful human beings offer their insight. Thank you Sounds True.

Beautiful and eye opening conversation. I appreciate to see that 2 of my favorite mentors see so much in common in their approach.

Wonderful. I hope these people might create a program similar to the Gupta program for chronic illness and limbic retraining…mold toxicity, fibromyalgia, Lyme, etc…
I also wonder about how to help my kids navigate the USA and or modern world in a happy, fulfilled and successful manner.

Finding myself disagreeing somewhat with Gabor Mate. His approach and IFS are not the same just using different terminologies as he says. IFS offers deeper insights with parts work, categorizations of parts and the specific ways of reaching exiles. Maybe the intention is the same and the results are similar but to me IFS offers a real inner roadmap that no other approach does. I do appreciate Gabor very much but on that point I take some issue.
