Got an ad before the video that asked, "What? Are videos from 2006 really helping?"

Yes, videos from around 2006 still help. Thank you, Patrick.

you should explain about the amplitude and the period. so that it would not be strange for the viewers if they encounter other examples to graph. like y=4sine2(x-2pi)

@oOoScreamXxX math is hard for everyone! and if you are not interested in it or find it is not your thing, just try something else!! (that is life!)

yes, i am also a bit amazed at how rude some people are on here : )

I have a test in about 20 minutes! Thanks for brushing up my skills!

@haxor98 i always tried to understand the 'why' part. if you are able to do that, you are understanding instead of just memorizing! of course, the 'why' part is often the harder question; it is easier to memorize patterns for a test.

Patrick you helped me score a 100 in my precalc algebra course (which was surprisingly challenging despite fact that I had already taken through calc in high school, but then stopped there, other than stats classes), and now I'm on my way to a 100 in trig. (Not all that, but I'm in my mid 40s, and haven't done any meaningful math in 26 years.) Thanks so much for the elegance and simplicity of your explanations.

Have you ever thought about assembling materials for the CSET, Math? And do you tutor via Skype? The CSET I, on algebra and number theory (the first of a series of 3 competency tests to teach high school math in CA), including some rings and fields, is quite rigorous for a non-math major who hasn't taken beyond calc.

@jung567 the vertical asymptotes occur at those values of x where the function is undefined

patrickjmt

@ColoredSnow123 where are those functions undefined?

@carmine137 well, your teacher warmed you up for my video! glad it helped

pi (not pie) is a number last time i checked

Thank you! This made me understand my professor's notes. I had no idea what she meant by "the domain of cos and cot are all reals except integer multiples of pi; and the domain of tan and sec are all reals except odd integer multiples of pi/2". Now all I need to remember is the zeros of my sin or cos graph will have asymptotes at pi lengths apart depending on where the cycle begins(the origin or +/- 1) and that's where the domain restriction will be.
